I have my TV connected with HDMI, and the only sound output it was is the average headphone jack. When I connect the jack to a shelf stero it sounds awesome, but still... Does anyone know if they are good enough for stereo and equal/worse/better than the red & white cables? Thanks.

The quality isn't all that much worse, if at all; they are both analogue so will be more affected by the amplifier than anything else.

The 3.5mm will do just fine, the quality is very hard to tell between the two analog sources. If you want the RCA connecters (Red, white) then get a better Home theater.
