I didn't even know these things existed until a couple of days ago. It seems there are only three on the market for use with the xbox 360.

Tritton AX Pro- they are the cheapest in price for $160

Turtle Beach X4- which are about $199

Astro A40- the most expensive weighing in at $250

Have you guys ever used any of these? What do you think?
Are there any others on the market I haven't heard of?
Thanks for the help:)

I have heard good things about the Tritons from friends who have them: set-up is easy and the sound is good.

Why not x4? it's the 5.1 surround version.

I have the Tritton AX360 and they sound great. Think the only difference between them and the AXPRO are doesn't require another power connector when using the dolby digital decoder box, sound quality is a tab worse than AXPRO, and pretty much the look. Go with the AX360 if you want less wires and want to spend less *And buy an optical cable and S/PDIF cable with them. The ones they provide are made of some cheap stuff and they feel like they would fall apart in like 2 months. Monoprice cables ftw! :D* The only advantage the Turtle beach's have is being wireless, which is a big plus for me and I would've gotten them if I had more cash

So you think wireless is better and you prefer Turtle Beach products. Are you saying the old stereo headphones are better than the new 5.1 surround headphones?

Oh no, I prefer Tritton. Really what I meant was I would've gotten turtle beach's x4 just because they were wireless 5.1 headset, not because they sound better which I don't know if they do or not. I just hate wires running across the room. And stereo headphones vs 5.1 headphones, its a matter of what people think is better. I like 5.1 headsets because they give you way better surround sound than those virtual surround headsets imo, and it doesn't wake whoever is sleeping in your house when you feel like playing games loud :P

That's a good point about wireless. I was also thing that wireless might run through a lot of batteries.

Thanks for the input about the Tritton, it seems like you like them.

Having both the AX360 and AXPRO...I would highly recommend the PRO over the 360..From the simple fact that on the PRO you can control the voice chat volume separately from the game volume..The 360 can not be adjusted and I always find myself adjusting the sound effects/music/etc..from the in game options menu to hear the voice chat..IMO it's the biggest pain in the butt...as each game needed to be adjusted from me to hear the chat..The pro all I have to do is turn a knob and it's perfect..

I just recently found out there is another company called Skullcandy. I still think the other options I listed are better than this new company.

@ MICROSOFT studios, we use skullcandy, These are the best headphones next to bose. We dont really chat on them, so if your looking for a headset/mic combo, i would go with TURTLE BEACH wireless. Make sure you get the LONG range ones, I love chatting while taking a crap !

I had all three at once for comparison reasons. I ended up keeping the Astros because of their superior audio and chat. The MixAmp is versatile and you can use whatever headset or headphone/mic combo you want.

I have the Astro A40s and love em. The mix amp makes footsteps in games such as COD4 extremely noticeable and with the 5.1 you can easily tell where they are.... makes stuff like Free for all a breeze.

I have the Tritton AX360, get the AXPro if you can for the simply reason of volume control for chat. It's a pain in the butt with the AX360's

i have the tritton ax360 and they are great. somewhat simple to set up and if you can handle turning down the game volume to hear your friends you should get them. all i do is turn the music down on the game almost all the way and keep the sound fx about half way and i can hear all my friends and anyone who is sneaking up on me. on call of duty 4 you wont even need your radar because you can hear everything going on around you.

I am leaning towards the Tritton ax pro because it is the only one with true 5.1 surround, whereas the astro and x4 use simulated 5.1. I also like that the Tritton is $100 cheaper than the astro.
