[QUOTE="DanielDust"][QUOTE="Sins-of-Mosin"]$60 for 1/3 of a game, pass. Only way they can redeem themselves is if the next two are $20.bonafidetk
They have nothing to redeem themselves for.

Intentionally splitting 1 game into 3 parts and selling it seperately is ok?

Dawn of War series - 2 games, 4 expansions.

Total War series - 6 games.

C&C series - 19 titles between games and expansions.

StarCraft series - 2 games, 3 expansions.

ZOMG WHAT A RIPOFF. BLIZZARD IS TEH EVIL GREEDY.

60$ has always been Blizzard games launch price. And it has always been well worth it.

I say, let's not care about people whining about it - in the end, they will regret following this stupid hatewagon once they realize how much they have lost for their ignorance ;)

Explanations have already been given - you people whining are just hypocrites.

Agree with the "always been well worth it" part, but SC II will cost 60 € in Europe and this is 10 € higher than any other Blizzard game before. An Isn't a hatewagon, I'll pay the 60 € (maybe the 90 € If I catch the SE), but for sure I'll not pay another 60 € for the two expansions.

Starcraft 1 sold about 10 millions, I have some doubts about the SC II potential.

Yeah, Blizzard's spokesman got too excited and completely screwed up his wording. When he realized, the internet was all in flames against Blizzard.

I'm rather interested in seeing how will they try to fix it. It's just two months away.

Now, the price really is high, but than again, this is something, that I'm willing to pay for such a game.

Yes SC was an excellent game but SC2 has barely changed anything, there have been many good RTS games that have come out after SC that has improved the genre in many ways and even have better gfx, you can find these games for cheap too but apparently people only play SC without trying anything else. Really if you look at what SC2 offers its an expansion pack but is charging an absurd amount. The editor is the only thing that seems worth it.

Well i guess its cool if they made it at the same quality, but i would prefer to be able to buy only the race i am interested in, for a lower price or something. Ofcourse it depends on how long the game will be. For example, if they cam make an entire game with only the zergs and stretch that to many many hours of actual fun and to qualify as a full game... then ok, but i doubt its possible to make an rts that you will use only one race in the entire game and your playthrough will be that enjoyable. I wodner how will gamespot review the game? 3 reviews?

But then they said they will release 2 campaigns -.- (aka. expansions with units) which means that I cannot play online after they release thier 1st expansion online

Kh1ndjal

if there is a source for this i would really like to get a link. i've heard this over and over again, that new units will affect multiplayer. from the press releases, blueposts and blizzcast all i can tell is that they will NOT affect multiplayer, and are singleplayer-only units. maybe im missing something here?

I guess you missed on reading the faq on starcraft2.com

How will the expansion sets impact multiplayer gameplay?

The expansion sets will add new content to each race for use in multiplayer matches. This could include additions such as new units, abilities, and structures, along with new maps and Battle.net updates.

Easy, you have Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, 3 games, 3 reviews because they'd obviously only review the singleplayer since there's no need to review the same multiplayer 3 times.

@Amoorz who's forcing you to get the all the games? the B.net additions will obviously be patched into any of the games and the community will never die for any of the games, look at War 3, sure for the next game/expansion the community will be maybe 10 times bigger but you will have at least a few thousands to play your game.

I am enjoying the beta and want to buy the game, but I am not too happy about the fact that they had to cut all 3 campaigns into 3 games. I love all things Blizzard but this isnt right. People will pay, I will probably be one of them, depending on how much the other 2 games cost. If they have expansion pack prices for the full single player experience (because really, thats the only thing being added as patches for multiplayer are the regular thing), then I would not have a problem with it.

People with only play against people with the same version of the game. That is how it has always been. In the case of WC3, some people actually didn't like the additions and preferred to keep playing the original version. You don't get an "advantage" by buying the expansions. Of course they are probably going to add some new stuff for multiplayer in the expansions. Some people will gripe about it, but probably even more would gripe if they did NOT do that.

I heavily doubt that Blizzard will charge full retail for each additional expansion, namely because they are a relatively smart company. I am personally not worried.

Intentionally splitting 3 campaigns into 3 parts and then TRIPLING THE LENGTH OF EACH CAMPAIGN. Let's try some basic math. One divided by three = 1/3. Then 1/3 multiplied by 3 = 1. :O omg. And yeah for the 3rd time in this thread by just me, that's still ignoring that this is the price for every other game like this that Blizzard has made. If people are going to whine about $60 for this game, they better find a way to whine about Starcraft and Warcraft 3 and Diablo freaking 2 not having had tons of value before they try to ignore those games as positive precedents of Blizzard games not being 'worth it.'

60$ is a fortune of money for me and even though I love the first game I'm only interested in the campaign, I'll wait for a holiday deal.

Blizzard delivers the highest quality game. I am a big fan of RTS games and this probably will be the best we'll see for some time. Until we see many details about the upcoming starcraft 2 games we cant rlle make any fair judgements. We dont even have any idea how much they'll cost. I'd rather spend 60 for a high-end game with a long single player campaign with fantastic multiplayer capabilities than a cheaper game lacking lose qualities.

Not if all 3 games together end up being $180+ tax/shipping at launch.

Though I seldom by games at launch, but Blizzard's games take literally years to come down in price.

In my opinion $60 is a good price for a top quality single-player campaign, a long lasting competitive multiplayer and some powerful modding tools. The other two parts will have the same content for single-player (about 30 missions with quality story, gameplay and cutscenes as usual) but will be priced as expansion packs. I don't see a problem on it. ;)

Some people are acting like if Blizzard would charge $60 + $60 for two small map packs. :(

I have no interest in single-player aspects of any game, so I really don't care how many campaigns get released. Single-player is a thing of the past to me, beating the AI doesn't make you good at a game, beating other humans does.

Never particularly enjoyed the Starcraft formula. I was too busy playing Total Annihilation, so I believe I'll pass on this one. It'll be interesting to see how Blizzard will manage to extend one campaign to 30 missions and avoid it becoming too boring or repetitive though. Building the same base and teching up every mission gets kinda old. But that's me!
