Most games still run in 32 bit mode though, so they can only utilize 3GB of ram(it's the same with 32 bit applications like photoshop). So 4 should be good enough until all games start properly utilizing 64bit processing.bradleybradleyActually, the most any ONE software thread can receive in a 32-bit environment is physically 2GB. However, many games today are multi-threaded, and thus can go around and above this limit. Why else do you think Assassin's Creed for Windows has a listed recommended requirement of 3GB(+) of RAM?

I run 64bit and so far I have yet to find a game in my Collection or 32bit app that I can't run. I also have yet to experience game crashes or Errors. What happens is you will have 2 Program Files, One for 32 Bit Programs and 1 for 64bit Programs. Crysis, CoH+Xpac, DoW+all Xpacs, Ghost Recon 2, The Witcher, C&C3+Xpac, GTA:VC, GTA:SA, World in Conflict, and WoW are all currently installed and work fine.
As far as old ass games go System Shock 2 and Duke Nukem 3D work on Vista 64 just fine.
64Bit is the way to go.

I've ran Vista 64 w/ this rig below for almost a month now. It's all updated w/ SP1, etc etc & I play Call of Duty 4, Crysis, World in conflict and some Age of empire 3 games with no issues at all.
Definitely a recommended O/S if you have 4 or 8GB's of ram :)
