i was wondering if i am missing out on graphics because of the resolution i have a 720p 50 inch plasma and it looks great but still i don't know if I'm getting the best graphic quality.I don't care really about watching movies or TV but I'm still a little confused to whether resolution makes a difference playing games because it is a computer madevideo and not filmed i don't know if you see the difference or if it depends on the consoles games that make the difference?

Like, 99% of 360 games are 720p on the 360, so you are not missing anything. If not HD-DVDs, most the time when a 360 outputs at 1080p it is "upscaled" 1080p. Just enlarging the 720p to 1080p with it's imaging processor, which doesn't really effect the image quality, but often better than a 1080p tv's upscaling. Halo 3, for example, is not even 720p, but 640p, so you are not missing anything there at all.

The PS3 has some 1080p games, but it's only a handful right now too.

When you do load up a 1080p game, it has a bit more clarity, but depends on the game. And jagged edges are smaller, finer, thanks to more pixels.

720p equals 1280*720 pixels, while 1080p is 1920*1080, about twice the number of pixels.

If you are sitting 7-10 feet from your 50inch, then you might not even see the 1080p difference either.

So for gaming, the most I'd be concerned about is how deep the blacks go in dark scenes, and overall picture quality.
