There is a 75% sale on Red Faction I & II & Guerilla this weekend on steam, although i don't think it's open yet because when i click on it, it takes me back to the store homepage. :)

Just a heads up.. Red Faction Guerilla does not like ATI. When I had a 9800GTX the game ran great, but then I upgraded to HD 6970 and now it's barely playable. It's not just me either I saw a thread full of people getting the same crappy performance as me with ATI
The original red faction is great, if you like old school shooters. It's notbrilliant, but I had a lot of fun blastin' my way through the baddies. I didn't like the second one though...don't really recommend it (The shooting just feels very off for some reason and very bland). Don't know much about guerilla, but it seems like fun if you simply want to destroy everything, very shallow otherwise..but I haven't played that one so I could be wrong..

You need to force dx9 mode.

I won't recommend it even at that price. Guerrilla is a terrible port. Even if you don't have terrible performance, there's plenty of port related jank to go around. The first one is worth it if you are nostalgic.guynamedbilly
I don't think that jank is port related. The game is pretty janky in general(albiet pretty fun)

No they weren't, in dx 10 the game still stutters every few seconds, at least on my 5870.

Is there any way to make the buildings "respawn" in Guerrilla so you don't run out of things to blow up?MythPro1There's always thing to blow up for most of the part, and blowing things up get more challenging as the game progresses. It's only around the end game once you've really given the EDF bases the one over that you run out of things.
Why aren't you playing RFG
You should be playing RFG
It's fun
You can punch VTOLS
From the Sky
In a Mech

That alone should justify the purchase ;)
Regarding the performance: Quad cores are highly recommendable, upgrading from Dual to Quad core solved the performance issues for me. Apart from that I had no trouble running the game with both GeForce 8800 GTS and Radeon HD5850.
