Sounds good to us canadians and americians, EU guys get the long end of the shaft :P Replacing my 680 with one of these
This topic is locked from further discussion.
It says 500-600$ for US, unless i'm missing something? Either way that sounds pretty damn high to me.
Theres no way in hell that I would replace a $450 GTX 680 with a re-fresh card (save you money and wait till Maxwell which is due summer 2014 or the 9970 which is due towards the end of the year). I have a feeling thats its going to be $550-600 which isn't that great of a deal (you pay 20% more for 20-25% more performance. What a freaking deal ! :| )
I don't see most people with upper tier 5xx cards or decent 6xx cards going for the 700 series (most will wait till Maxwell since games aren't really that demanding).

GK110 is a bit different than GK104 insofar as clock speeds. Â My Titans in the 800s outdid my 680s at pretty high clocks; don't remember the exact numbers.
Also if it's anything like the Titan is should overclock easy.

Yeah, I just wish they'd hurry up and announce it already and give us a release date!I'm going to see about using the step-up program. If Nvidia is kind to me, I'll be getting a GTX 780 using that method. If not, I'll wait around until next year; because I really have a choice... :-PElann2008Step-up Program? How exactly does that work?

From reading the step-up program requirements, you basically pay the difference. So lets say you just bought a GTX 670 for $400 within that 3-month step-up period, and you want a GTX 780 that cost $500, you turn in the GTX 670 EVGA and pay the difference of the two cards. You'll probably have to pay shipping too.

The GTX 780 is supposed to be Titan lite. Â It's really not a 600 series refresh. Â The GTX 770 and below are the 600 series refreshes. Â If the GTX 780 really is a slightly slower Titan for less than $600, that's not a bad deal. Â
Do you really think that a Titan "light" will be $400 "lighter" ? That makes no sense. A little less performance for a lot less money...right! Wishfull thinking haha. That source is hardly credible. Go to anandtech and they have posted NO news about the next GPUs from Nvidia...the reason? There is no credible news yet. "Oh wait...but...but the rumors/sources say that we will get slightly less performance than the Titan for half the price, so it must be true!"

They are not going to release a slightly souped-up GTX 680, call it the 780, and sell it for 600 dollars. Â Who would buy it? Â The 7970ghz edition would still be nearly on par with it in most games, and faster in some. Â
It makes far more sense that the rumors are true and that the 680 is being slightly revised and released as a 770. Â That leaves something stronger for the GTX 780. Â Titan lite makes perfect sense. Â I wouldn't be shocked to see it sell for $700 though. Â
Maybe I got confused. It was my understanding that the Titan was only around 35-40% faster than a GTX 680 (thus a Titan lite would only be like 25% faster which is typical of a re-fresh card). The GTX 780 is supposed to be Titan lite. What resolution do you play at ?Should I sell my 7970 and get a 780? Or get another 7970? I am not happy with 7970 performance.

[QUOTE="Alienware_fan"]What resolution do you play at ? ^^This. And do you play on a single monitor? Also, 2x 7970 --> single 780 would be a downgrade.Should I sell my 7970 and get a 780? Or get another 7970? I am not happy with 7970 performance.

I would think that 2 7970s would be enough @1080p, but if it's not (maybe you force tons of AA or something), then I think it would be much more cost efficient to add a third 7970, because you would have to buy 2 780s for it not to be a downgrade. Â Though, on the other hand, I think that 2 780s would do quite a bit better than 2 7970s. Â We will have to wait until they are released to get exact performance info, however.
What resolution do you play at ?1080p.There shouldn't really be any issues since 1080p isn't a high resolution at all (im guessing your having driver issues ?). My video card is 30-35% slower than a 7970 and im able to play recent games (crysis 3, bioshock infinitie, tomb raider, DMC, far cry 3.....ect) at base setting turned all the way up and about half of the games I can jack up the AA/AF @1080p (your performance should be great on games)[QUOTE="mastershake575"][QUOTE="Alienware_fan"]

Personally I got to say that using a single 680 on a 1200P display, that is as much as it can do. At times I do wish I had a little extra power.

That's very true. Â And every time I think about buying a second GPU, I can't justify the purchase of another $400 card so that I can play 2-3 games that are very demanding. Â Especially at just 1200p. Â If I was sporting a 1440p+ monitor, it'll be a different story.

Crossfire 7970's will also last twice as long than a single one, so you're not really wasting money.[QUOTE="Alienware_fan"]

Two 7970's are more future proof than a single one.[QUOTE="Elann2008"]

What?
Two 7970's are more future proof than a single one.Oh, right, I agree with that. Â For some reason I had a temporary moment of stupidity and thought you meant that the cards would keep working twice as long before crapping out if you had them running in Crossfire haha. Â I'm a dumbass sometimes. Â :P Â Lol.
It should be (all of the x60 TI series cards have been $250-299). The specs are rumored at 5-10% faster than the GTX 670 which is great.I'm considering getting a GTX 760 Ti. I mean, it's going to be a rebadged 670 with a price tag that's $100 cheaper, right?
The_Capitalist
The price drops on previous cards are going to be sweet also (AMD/nvidia should be dropping the prices of there older cards such as the 660ti, 7950, gtx 670/680....ect). I"ve been looking around today and have noticed that the used prices have already dropped and the cards aren't even out yet (used 660 ti SC for $220-235, a bunch of used GTX 670 for $260-270 range)
