I am helping my cousin pick out parts and build an AMD system with the Phenom 2X4 940 processor. I know that when I built by Intel Q6600 system, everyone told me that I wouldn't notice a performance boost in the 1066mhz Ram. In other words, The 800mhz ram is going to essentially provide the same amount of performance. My question is,,, Does this hold true for AMD systems? Would he notice any real performance difference between the two. He's not running any sort of memory benchmarks and is just doing normal computing and some live TV recording. Maybe a little gaming (he bought a HD 3850).

Thanks

There will be a slight jump in framerates when using 1066MHz RAM, but probably nothing he would notice. But 1066MHz RAM is just as cheap as 800MHz RAM now, so go with the 1066...

If the timings are teh same between the two, the 1066 is better. If the timing is a higher value on the 1066, then you are better off getting the 800.

It doesn't matter what processor it is, I don't imagine. I have the 940 and run 800Mhz RAM and it performs stellar. Like it was said above, just go with whatever you can get the cheapest.

That's the RAM I have.
