Just wait for ATI to give us their new midrange DX10 card. That will push all other DX10 card price down.

Im willing to bet that that card wont even run Battlefield 2 that good. you're dreaming if you think that'll max out crysis.

Wasn't the 8600 GTS supposed to have 64 stream processors?

figure of speech, you could get a 8800 gs for $250 on newegg but the rebate ended. I have heard though on other sites you can find it for $230. dont forget when ATI drops there cards all the prices are going to plummet.

wait one month since ATI is going to be releasing its killer cards and nvidia is going to be releasing its killer cards and there will be a giant price war. though I would just wait for crysis to come out(early september? maybe summer break?) and see what it would take to max it out (if your into maxing out crysis). but if you dont wanna wait for crysis thats ok just make shure you wait about 1 month or so from now.

iunno alot about the specs with all these new cards coming out but what I do know is that the second ATI releases its blazing fast cards Nvidia will release its 8900's or what ever but I dont realy care since if one is better than the other they will just lower its price accordingly.

Henri, you came here innocent and ignorant, but now you're leaving arrogant and somewhat fanboyish messages. Amazing what one thread will do to a kid.

Anywho, I think the 8600GT is an excellent value card because it can almost definitely OC to GTS speeds for 40-60$ cheaper. If you want to go from there, the 8800GT 320mb is technically the best bang for your buck card, but simply wait for ATI to release for a dual company price drop and pick the best performer in your price category.

I expect crysis to run like buttah with an 8800 series card. you might as well pick up the cheapest of that bunch, the 320 mb version, but i have to agree with the previous posters here, wait for DAAMIT to release their cards, then make the choice, because as of now, there's no competition or pressure, price-wise and performance-wise with the current line-up. When the HD 2x00's come out, is a perfect time to go card-shopping.

An 8800GTX or a GTS will easily max out Crysis depending on the resolution.

So true, as the 8800 gtx is their reference card for that game.

looking at factory OCs of these cards, 720 for GTS, AND an amazing 700 for 8500 GT

I think people are going to run into problems overclocking the 8600GT to 8600GTS speeds, since the 8600GT has no PCI-e power connector, which is going to hamper overclocking at higher clock speeds. I'm sure they can get very close though - we'll have to wait about a week or so to see what people manage to get out of the cards.

Hello!?? the 8500GT Is better than a 7600GS And im running a 7300GT and play BF2 Maxed out. SO im going to say that a 8500GT will max out BF2 with at leas 2XAA.hofuldig

You do know that if you're not running at least 6XAA with that 7300GT, you're not "maxing out" the game, right? Playing at high settings, possible (especially if your monitor only supports 10x7). But if you're not running absolutely full-tilt graphical detail, it's not maxed out.

I can afford it but I would love to know if it will run Crysis on the highest settings? and is it worth it ?henri1960

yes sir!! The game is made to run for the 7900 and 1900 video cards... yes the I know it's not a dx10 card but if u look for the recommened specs for crysis its really made for the 7900 and 1900 cards.. Basically the stock speeds, If u have a 7900 or a 8600 or a any 8 series ull max out crysis. Not many people realize this but, DLP,LCD and plasma are gonna die next year. There's a new type of tv coming out called lazer TV. WHere i'm going with this is that the new video cards like the 8 seroes have so many pixels, mostly the 8800 series and up. Will play crysis in something like 2300x1600 resolution, now u will need an 8800 to play at this resolution. But 1900x1200 is fine for me, but to ur question... yes a 7900 can max out crysis on a 1024x1024 resolution.

I know I made this kinda long but I want ppl to hopefully realize this cuz ppl said u needed all kinds of crap for doom3.. Saying u needed all of this stuff just to run the game maxed.. I had a cheap radeon 9600 SE and ran that game on what High? I also had only a 2.5 amd 64 xp, also only 512 of ram. I think if u have atleast these specs u should be good to go

Medium to high - 7600

high with good resolution - 7800

max - 7900

max with good resolution - 7950 for dx9

ANd of course 8 series will kill these game...

Ram -1.5-2 gbs

CPU -atleast a 3200 amd or higher, If i were u... athlon 64 dual or heck even a AM2 socket 6000 plus is only  150. I say atleast get a dual cpu to see the awesome physics... Hope this kinda helped some of the struggling people with a low understanding of the specs for the game.

there were times where even the 8800 gtx were getting frame slow-downs in the demos, especially from large explosions and such, but we do have to realize that it was from the alpha stage, so there are still so many things to optimize. I have a feeling that the 8800 gtx will play at least 30+ minimum, if not 60+, at least that's what i'd hope for. lest my sli'ed 8800 gtx go to waste :) in retrospect, I didn't spend much buying the cards either, so its not too bad.

i would just buy a good 7900 series card for the same price and then when crysis comes out (probably summer-fall) there will be radeons cards...cheaper nvidia 8800's etc.  i mean why not run the games you have  now on awesome settings to tide you over until the crysis release.  honestly its all speculation right now anyways so its not a good idea to build a gaming rig for a game thats not even released yet.  sooooo be patient and buy a 7900!  always have to be so damn patient before building a system.  unless you're rich as ****

For future reference, literally means " adhering to fact or to the ordinary construction or primary meaning of a term or expression" according to MW. So if you say something literally rapes something, it means the sexual act. It's not an emphasis type of word.

Anyway, sorry I'm not meaning to be a grammar whore :) I agree with u as far as the 8800gts goes.

[QUOTE="henri1960"]I saw the benchmark and the x1900 XT was faster than 8500GT. JigglyWiggly2

U dissing my card line dbz boy? if so suck meh balls. lawl, anyways you are comparing a low end to last gen high end use your head :), but while your here, i would suggest an 8800 gts 320, cheap can prolly run crysis on high, low mem will bottle neck crysis... probably.

Yeah you can't expect the lowest 8500GT to compare with the X1900XT. More like the 7600GT level.Â
