[QUOTE="Cevat Yerli"]the 64-bit version "will bring a performance difference of up to 10 to 15 percent on each thread" compared to the 32-bit versionNitrous2O

Will definitely be happy to see a 10-15% performance bonus with 64-bit then! :D link

I'm not too worried about it with my 8800GTS, wait for the optimizations and final product guys. He was very vague, he might only be talking about one or two areas in the game that are not as far along in development/optimizations yet, who knows...

That interview is almost exactly one year old. Here's some comedy gold:
What's interesting is that Yerli told us that if you have Windows Vista and an older DirectX 9 card, you should still see better performance with Windows Vista than Windows XP, even if the hardware remains unchanged. "DirectX 9 on Vista will run faster throughout due to the better device driver model...which is a great thing because just upgrading the operating system on the same rig, you get a better gaming experience," he said.Cevat Yerli

good thing I got a 2900xt. lettuceman44

I am sorry :(

Seriously, the 2900xt is not any better then the 8800 GTX 768 MB card, if it is then the performance advantage is not that much more. Considering you need a 1000 watt PSU to keep the thing running properly and overclocking it would kill your power supply, plus the fact that it has huge heat generation makes the 8800 GTX a far better buy imo.

I doubt either card will run Crysis at max and I hope that Nvidia is working on the 8900 now just so we can max out the graphics, which in turn would drop the price of the 8800GTX in half most likely.

Even if the 8800 they were talking about can't max it out, the game still looks damn good.

[QUOTE="pminooei"]

[QUOTE="Master_Kev"]Not very specific are they, it may be a gts like the person said above.markop2003

it could've been ultra

my bet's on it being a GTX but there may have been two in SLI

No. They said AN (an as in singular) 8800.

Besides there's plenty of optimization to be done. Someone said once they downloaded the leaked version of Doom 3 and could barely get 5 FPS. When the full game came out they got 60 FPS on the exact some comp.

didnt they say 4gb ram/8800/dual core? and they have it on high settings running game smoothly? whos complaining?

last i heard this game was being even further optimized for quad cores. stick a quad core into that setup, and you'll all be running Crysis fine. especially with 4gbs of ram. nothing uses near that yet.stop stressing ppl. DX10 aint even finished yet, so no ones even seen their 8800's/2900's do anythin special. all the 'dx10' software we have at the moment isonly patched and not built groundup. not even fully utilising SM4.0 yet.besides, if for some reason an 8800 GTS started to choke, by September you'd be able to get another one cheap as, and just SLI??

next sentence: Yes, we [are] progressing very well on optimization, and we will achieve our goal. Two-to-three-year-old rigs will run Crysis well, with lower visual settings still competing with the best games of two-to-three years ago.

8800GTS/E6600/2gig ram will max this game. and please don't mention gazillion amount of ram, to max the game. The recommended is 768mb of ram.

hey? i didnt say you needed 4gb ram, i was quoting the dude in the interview. thats what he said they were running Crysis on. my point was if Crytek have crysis on v.high settings with that setup, and are getting smooth framerates (obviously meaning very playable framerates)why are ppl worried about being able to run it? 4gb ram is heaps but its not like it costs a years pay anymore.

if anything i'd have to say im not 100% confident a dual core will totally MAX this game. i'd say quad, but then again i have no proof and am only speaking from my own experience with games and next-gen technology advances.

just to point. 0.37% of gamers have more than 2GIGS of ram. Now i personally didn't see a freak, who would have 4 GIGS of ram to play sum games on. Even if it's for crysis, i doubt more than a 1% of gamers will have more than 4GB of ram, by the end of 2008. You can quote me on that.

i get the feeling ur implying that im telling ppl they need 4gb ram to run this game? im not

Ok, i get your point. They are optimising game at the moment. And i hope, when game is released, that 2GB should do for the max.

Like the guy said above, After optimization, it will work on 2 GB of ram, without a doubt, at high settings.

Yea...Crytek aren't stupid to release a game so powerful that no1's going to be able to play it.

OH NO! You Can't run your precious 16x AA & AF!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?

seriously, not to rain on anyones parade here, my 8800 gts can't MAX out supreme commander which happens to be out today, so games in the future will be more technically demanding. Personally I can't notice a difference between 4x and 16x AA, and as a matter of fact I don't even ever use AA, i think it's a waste of resources. I can almost assure you any 8800 series card will max Crysis w/o AA or AF and unless you're really into godly computers, that will be good enough to realize the true awesome factor crysis is going to have.

firefly026

I'm sure the GTS will have no problem maxing Crysis with AA and AF, but certainly not 16X AA, that's just ridiculous. 4X AA is fine, especially when running at a higher resolution.

If 8800 GTS can max out game whit 4xAA i think it could do it whit 16xAA too. You know G80 has great AA called CSAA, which offers higher levels of AA like 16xAA whit only little hit in performance.

The game will be multithreade which means all cores available will be used. And i am almost sure that dual core will max this game out. I mean Crysis is kind of game where GPU and RAM matter little bit more than procesor. In Alan Wake procesor will surely be more importnat than GPU since, game will use multiple cores for draw distance, physics, AI.... Crysis should run maxed out on dual core whit good GPU.

On FEAR at 1440x900, with 4X AA I get about 75fps average. After cranking the AA up to 16X in the Nvidia control panel, I suffer a 10-15 fps loss in FEAR, which isn't bad, but I really can't tell the difference between 4X and 16X.

See. Only 10FPS loss after you put on 4 times more heavier AA.

If I'm already at 60-70fps, then I'll crank it up to 16X. But if I'm playing Crysis at 30fps, 16X could be the difference between playable and unplayable.

Well it was said a while ago that no current computer will be able to turn on all the graphics options, but as long as my PC looks as good as the screenshots I really don't care.

Did the E3 demo use any overclocked hardware at all? Such as higher clocks for the GPU and CPU? or do we not know?

Can't be a problem of the Dual Core CPU ????

Anyway I think I saw some where that the game is enhanced for Core 2 Quad & Core 2 Extreme processors.

I'm not sure about it. Maybe it is

Did anyone download the QuickTime HD video of the island walkthrough? It might be my laptop, but it looked like the game was running in the 25-30fps range (since the video is HD, it's much easier to tell).

The video can be found here, I believe it's the fifth article.

You think that they can really optimize game soo wel to go from running "most of the time smoothly" in 1024, to running most of the time smoothly at 1680 whit AA and AF. IMO no card out there will be enough to max this game out. If its delayed than 9800 GTX should easily do it, but i doubt about current gen DX10 cards. Ill probably play it games in DX9 til 9800 GTX comes out, and Crysis will probably be delayed so 9800 GTX should come out somewhere around Crysis, and than ill hopefully grab 9800 GTX and play Crysis in all its glory under DX10.

Uh...yeah? Its crytek, one of the best optimisers on the planet, the game is not getting delayed, Cevat said its coming out this year. 9800GTX specs are still a rumor since Nvidia has not confirmed anything. And I am talking about DX9 since thats what they showed mostly, DX10 is a joke currently and with the way Vista is currently running, I doubt anyone would be running Crysis in DX10 with no problems. Nvidia doesn't have the 8800 drivers right for vista, what makes you think they will get it right for the 9800? Keep on living in your fantasy world Domke. But we live in reality, All games run on low reses when it comes to showing off beta's and alpha's. You honestly think that Crysis will ship out and people with 8800 cards will only be able to play it at a res of 1024 by 768 Or 1280 by 1024? what are you stupid? Dear god...

Crysis isnt a buy for me cause everyone just treats it like a freakin benchmark and not a game. The only game worth getting is Hellgate imo. Does Crysis even have a story or action or is it just an island where ppl can brag they can max it?

I doubt there will be much of a performance difference between various resolutions. As for the DX10/Vista/8800 driver issues, I have a feeling there will be a system pack for Vista soon (hopefully).

System Pack is not scheduled for release until 2008.

Missed your post there :P, yeah Crysis does have a story, just not heavily implimented. Its all action, kinda like how HL2 is. BTW how do you have 6GB of XMS2 ram? :P

And now i live in fantasy world??? huh. I am not saying that 8800 will run bad under DX9, but IMO it will run bad on maximum in Dx10. And whit maximum in Dx10 i mean all those special effects on maximum in DX10 version in at least 1680 resolution whit 4xAA and 16xAF. Sorry but IMO 8800 GTX just isnt capable of that. Maybe 2900XT will do in pair whit Ultra, but even Ultra IMO wont be enouh for thos maximum special effects, like 3D clouds and 3D smoke and all that **** And about betas. They showed beta very late if that was beta. The game is only 2-3 months out of release and they were showing beta now?? Under DX10 whit same settings as under DX9 game should run faster cause of faster DX10 and Vista API, But those special effects in DX10 modes will kill its performance even on 8800 GTX. Comparable to los planet. Which is port i know and not DX10 game, but as soon as you go from DX9 to DX10 whit same settings game runs a bit faster. But when you cranck up all those effects and features that are only possible in DX10 mode framerate drasticaly drops from around 50 to 15-20. No cardthatisoutnow IMO will run Crysis on FULL MAX in DX10 whit 4xAA, 16xAF and in decent resolution. But i could be wrong. And i really dont know what makes you think that i live in fantasy world.

Dx10 is a shady area, I thought you were talking about DX9, I mentioned you living in a fantasy world because the 9800 specs aren't really out yet, and your claiming that it will max out the game. For all we know the G92 could be just a card to fill in the gap between the 8600 and the 8800. I was talking about DX9 in my previous post. But in Dx10 I don't think it would be that drastic. Lost planet was not a true DX10 game because it was originally DX9. Crysis is true DX10 because the engine is built on DX10, and not upgraded to it like Lost Planet and Company of heroes, or even call of juarez. But yeah we cannot be sure whether it will run like crap or run smooth as hell until the game comes out. I just don't think it will be so crappy that people wont be able to run it on very high settings with all those options turned on. But yeah like you said, you could be wrong, and I could be wrong, we'll just have to wait and see then.

dont u think it was expected .... any game with such high production values has to be created with future technology in mind aswell as past !

the person mentions 8800 ... it is just wishful thinking if we say they were running a 8800GTS ... remember they are backed by one of the richest production houses ever ... and what makes u think they will compromise on hardware to showcase their flafship game ! ... t is definately the higest 8800 probably in SLI or who knows mabe in Quad SLI !!!

even though the game cannot be maxxed out on 8800 as expected ... it will sure look good .... coz when the 9 series out come out people have to see a performance upgrade on the new card !!!!

Twas running on a single card Eatpepsi, well I am just making that assumption since all the shows they did, they were running on a single card and not SLI.

Wrong. Crysis isnt true DX10 title. Crysis engine is built on DX9 and Crytek will only add some special DX10 effects to DX10 version, thats why i think it will run bad whit those special effects in Dx10. As far as i know only Alan Wake has engine built on DX10 and that means Vista and DX10 only.
