I found this review of the 8800 GTS Fatal1ty card on 3dGuru:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/XFX_88..._Fatal1ty/465/

I also found the card for $300, which makes it a steal according to the Guru3D review:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...390&CatId=2669

Its about $100 more then what I was willing to spend, but it is much better then a 8600GT and I could probably come up with the $100.

Is this really worth it? Meaning, I know it is definately worth it compared to the 8600 GT, but compared to other 8800GTS cards out. Is it really the best $300 card I can get?

The reviewer said "The majority of gamers out there are still on an LCD screen at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. And for you guys this card means bang for your bucks. If you aim at a higher resolutions then definitely go for the 640 model, or even better the still delicious 768 MB GTX."

I do most of my gaming at 1600x1200, which seems to be at the upper limit of this card I mean based on value.

I did find this 8800 GTS on newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814122022

I don't know who Leadtech is, but it is $250. It's also 320mb but is seems like the Fatal1ty 8800 GTS would be much faster - is this correct?

Would the amount of speed difference be worth the $50?

the 8600GT really is a trash card, the 8800GTS out performs it on so many levels if you can come up with the extra 100 you need for the 8800GTS you will not be disappointed. tho i would wait until 10/29 when the 8800GT comes out. from what we are seeing the 8800GT is out performing the GTS version. furthermore if you go for the 8800GTS you will want the 640MB version given that you prefer to play at high resolutions and you will need that extra memory.
