"Everything else remains the same as it was on the 8800GTX, and some partners suggest schematics how to create an 8800Ultra from a single 8800GTX board - an interesting turn of events indeed. Can you say... voltmod?"

A little excerpt from the full article. Apparently you can just overclock your 8800GTX a bit and you can easily achieve an ULTRA which is probably going to cost $400 dollars more. Sad really. Discuss!

Because they are using cherry picked cores and have a new cooler designed for it.
The main buyers will be OEMs anyway, so price doesn't really matter.

Ultra, ultra. I remeber how it was with 6800GT and 6800 ultra. Not even that much difference, just that ultra was so much more expensive.

And 8800Ultra will come in very small number so I don't see any possibility that this thing will come along just about everywhere in the earth

I would do it if eVGA allows me too. I mean afterall, I got my card for free, this would be a $450 purcahse for me. But in all honesty, Im suuuuuper happy with this card and its great. SLI anyone? :D

P.S. Andrew Raycroft wont win you a Stanley Cup, hes a great backup though.  If they couldnt do it with future hall of famer Ed Belfour and also Curtis Joseph, then they wont win it with him.

Imma do it around summer. I was gonna do it right away here, but I got a sick deal on a PS3. I had to take it. That 8800gts 640mb will handle crysis very nicely tho.

yeah this is my first console to ever buy.  I wanted the 360, but 60gb PS3, 2 controllers and 4 games for $400cdn is too great to pass up.

Instead of going SLI with my 8800GTX... i decided to buy a single card and buy teh ps3 along with it... you dont really need SLI yet... will do after about 2 years

its sad that daily tech has been relegated to the likes of those two, sensationalist, rumor-mongering, and at best 50-50 in their accuracy.... given the fact DT is affiliated with Anandtech, a highly reputable tech site. I blame their HD 2900 xt/x coverage though.Â
