Very very close to the GTX and Ultra

[QUOTE="sadikovic"]What the frick just happened :|...I thought it was 8800GTS>GTwklzip
The older 8800gts 320 is discontinued, the 8800gt will take its place and a newer 8800gts 640 will come by the 19 nov.
Expect the new 8800gts to outperform the gtx.
Stupid 320/640MB RAM :(... they should of just braught out he 512's damn companies and their scams.

Don't you love the world of technology? heh, don't feel alone in this, most people on these boards are feeling the "scam." My friend just got a GTS 3 weeks ago, atleast mine has a few months on it.

Yeah I knew it was gonna happened but damn... I was blinded by crysis :(.
Oh well its still a good card and it will probably be my last upgrade, somethings telling me things are going "console" too often these days for me to spend 2x the amount on an upgrade would be very un-smart :P
But we've known this card was coming for months, and that it was going to be the mainstream part of the next range. Of course the mainstream part of the next range is basically the same as the high end of the current range - happens every year. An 8600GT is basically the same as the old 7800GTX...Only the naive (I was arguing with somebody about this last night on GS) expect their 12month old gfx card to remain king another 6months.
I suspect these benchmarks ARE a little off - the GTX and the Ultra are too close, suggesting a CPU bottleneck.
Does this mean i have to "step up" to a CHEAPER card? ouch.this hurts ='(Mr_NoName111
If you have EVGA you can. It says "Better Performing Card" which pretty much opens any card up for debate. I can't mine expired today =(
daaayuum!
i'm so glad that i didn't rush out and get an 8800GTS or the 2900PRO! it looks like patience really does pay off! :) and if these benchmarks are true, then I'll prolly end up going with the 8800GT 512mb. Is it going to be DX 10.1 compatible?
Come on guys, this is a fake benchmark
1. the cards isnt out yet.
2. no way will it be better then the GTX and cost half the price of it. that would make no sense for nvidia to do
3. the new GTS is suppose to remain better then the GT but will only have 112sp, where as the GTX has 128. My point is if the 8800 GTS is better then the GT but still not better than the GTX that pretty much proves that the GT wont be better than a GTX. GET IT??!
Take this with a big pinch of salt-the 8800GTS 640mb would be unlikely to only get 0.76 FPS more than the 320mb. This test smells fishy to me.manic111
This is pretty common. It usually only does a LITTLE better than the 320MB. A simple CPU bottleneck would explain why it is .75FPS more vs 2FPS more. ;)

check the benchmark at the end of th!s page... TC's results seem kinda Off...
this looks fake this card is no way gona beat a 8800gts and xt wtf mark my word on thisIQT786Why not, it has more shaders, higher clocks, it is more powerful on paper, so why won't it beat the gts again?

what about the 256bit bandwidth on gt vs the 320bit on gts it's not all about spu the ati has 320 so it wins yeah
(sorry for the double post but I made a benchmark with Fraps and I got in suspense:
75.9 min
82 avg
114Max
(FPS)
my system:
C2Q Q6600
2gb 800 CL4
BFG 8800GTS 640Mb OC2

First don't compare shaders across architecture, GT shaders are the same as GTS, they are even clocked higher. Second, the GT has high enough mem clocks to offset the difference. Think about it why would Nvidia not launch a more powerful card almost a year later? Remember the 7900GT vs 7800GTX, the GT was cheaper and faster.[QUOTE="IQT786"]Why not, it has more shaders, higher clocks, it is more powerful on paper, so why won't it beat the gts again?[QUOTE="muscleserge"][QUOTE="IQT786"]this looks fake this card is no way gona beat a 8800gts and xt wtf mark my word on thismuscleserge

yes it would have been the faster one ifthe named it 8900gt as u said the 7900gt was faster then 7800gtx why because it's 7900gt not 7800gt

well its ultimately its Nvidia's decision to name their products, the names are still more or less speculation, it still could be 8900 or 8850.arghhhh i got a 320 2.5 week ago...but nah im happy its has maxed everything until now and if i can play crysis near high im happy kirk4ever
i feel sorry for u man i had the 320mb but myn broke so they had to trade it for somthing else but if it's evga you can do the stepup thing and change it in 90 days for a better one

no i have money but i wanna buy the games next month and im pretty sure i can run em all (tried all demos) so ill upgrade next summer :)
[QUOTE="Infinite-Zr0"]Anyone got prices for the 8800GT and the updated 8800GTS640???wklzip
The 8800gt 256 mb i heard its USD$176 not sure about the new 8800gt 512mb but it should be around $200
The new 8800gts 640 will cost USD$305
dam dude thats cheap as hell i got to get me one im kinda glad i waitedSecond, the GT has high enough mem clocks to offset the difference.muscleserge
I dunno about that... 58 vs 64...
I mean it is pretty close and you could easily overclock the GT to get the same bandwidth as a stock GTS but the thing is, it doesn't really look like either card is really bandwidth limited.
Logicaly it would be Ultra > GTX > GTS > GT.I don't really know whats going on with the Nvida cards does it go Ultra>8800GT>8800GTX ? And also does anyone know the general area of the price for the 8800 GT?
badgert
But if these benchmarks appear to be true, then it is as you said. Although I have no doubt in my mind that this is a fake benchmark.
