the new cards will cost in the $450+ range, and a 8800GT is a very good card and will play everything but Crysis on max, I would suggest to wait for a little while for a price drop.
The new higher end cards will be definetly over $300. You can allways wait, but the 8800gt is a really good deal for preformance at the moment. They may have one in the future, but I wouldn't stake on it being too soon.
