teh 8800GT can run crysis on high 16x10 @ 27-35fps in a decent size firefight (pending other system components). that is not bad FPS at all.

Nvidia drivers are causing my 8800gt to perform like crap. 2 fps in Crysis, which is pretty unf***ing playable!

If you want to take a chance of going through a bunch of crap like me then by all means buy the damn card. Hell be like me and buy the Evga superclocked version and install the 169.25 drivers while your at it.

Why don't you just RMA the card to EVGA then? It's obviously faulty.

I had one, be sure your psu can handle it. Uninstall the old drivers, then install the new. Everything was fine with mine in 3dmark and games, was in the middle of my OC tests, and the fan seized up. Took it back and ordered a GTS cause I know I'd be pissed if a new GT didnt reach or surpass the same OC.

Go with XFX for best warrenty, then Evga. But anyways The 8800 GT is a beast of a card even thou the fan speed is locked 29%. A simple fix is to use ntune or rivatuner to jack up the speed, 40-50% is the sweet spot for best cooling and low noise from the fan. You just need to do it once and its fixed. Before I bumped up the fan speed I was idling around 56C and maxing out 80-82 in Crysis. Now after Bumping it up to 40% It idles 50C and maxes 75C. Its great card for the money. Crysis plays very well, and every other game it laughs at. So you wont regret getting one.

The 8800GT is the ONLY card you should be buying until nvidia refreshes with something else.

G013M

Obviously faulty? :?

The card works fine with everything, except when I go to Crysis. I was getting 15-22 fps in Crysis when I had the drivers from the cd that came with the card, installed. I figured the driver might need updating for better performance, so I downloaded nvidia's latest 169.25 driver. Once I installed nvidia's 169.25 driver, that's when I got the problem.

Wow, I JUST bought one and am about to put it in my PC. I have a question though...should I uninstall the old drivers (just downloaded the new ones, haven't installed though), turn off the PC, put in the new card, boot it up, then install the new drivers? Or should I uninstall the old drivers, install the new ones, shut down, put in new card, then boot up?

My old cards are 2 7600 GT's. Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys!

Oops, sorry, I just assumed you meant that it was like that for every game.

Well have you rolled back to the previous drivers then?

EDIT: I see that have you from your other topic.

I'm having problems myself with that. I installed the 169.25 driver while the drivers from the cd were still installed and I got piss poor performance in games. Don't be like me and rush into things, find out for sure!

And when you do let me know! :P

Proper driver / card installation :

1.Uninstall old driver using drivercleaner

2. Power down and install new card

3. Boot into safe mode and download the new drivers

4. Install new drivers while in safe mode

5. Reboot into windows.

6. Start computing stuff.

Well, I uninstalled the old drivers and shut off the machine. Then I slipped in the new card and booted, installed new drivers (NOT from CD), and tested out 3dmark06. My score had an increase of about 3500 which ended up being about a 65% increase! So, I tested it out with The Witcher and it ran smooth as silk. I had been playing it at medium settings, but bumped it up to High with the new card and still ran like a dream. However, the real test will be when I test out Crysis tonight to see the payoff...

for those having problems with their gt's and they have the 169.25 driver...try downgrading the drivers, there have been a lot of complaints about 169.25
