Both are more than enough for modern games!
Quad cores will have more life though than any duel core cpu!
but by the time you start seeing quad cores being used widely on PC's there will much better quad cores out, thats the major problem with investing...Its not really an ivestment if it costs the same as an E8400!
Also when quad cores are being used in most games better quads will be out,,,but we cant say yet whether a Q6600 will be unusable. Either way a Q6600 isguaranteedto last longer thus save you money on when you next NEED to upgrade.
