I want to get a 8800GTS and ive so far bought a new case and PSU, my case hasnt arrived yet. Im also thinking of upgrading my motherboard, CPU and RAM.

I want to upgrade my graphics first but im thinking that maybe i should upgrade my motherboard first and get the graphics card last.

Heres my current system specs

AMD Athlon 64 3400+

2GB RAM

Geforce 7600GT

Whatdo u thnk i should upgrade first??

I want to play games like crysis with decent graphics

Personally I would stick with your 7600 for now-its still a nice card. If I were you, I would look at getting a core 2 duo E4300 and a nice mobo (gigabyte P35) and overclocking it. That 7600 will last you a while, and the 3400 is getting fairly long in the tooth.

OK so im edging towards the graphics card first option becasue i can enjoy that while i save up for the new motherboard build.

Update

I found a OEM Skt 939 X2 4200+ for £61, and a decent heatsink for £12, would this be worth considering to hold me over for another year??

thanks in advance

Honestly you should hold off on buying a cpu, and wait to upgrade to am2. 939 is dead, and you will find yourself upgrading in months. I heard that the am2 motherboards have support for am3 processor so you would be set for years, but its not offical.

I think I heard that chips designed for AM2+ scokets will also work in AM2 sockets, and chips designed for AM3 sockets will work also work in AM2+ but won't work in AM2.
