Is 66Hz refresh rate on the maximum resolution enough?

For me I know it would not be. When using a CRT monitor, I must have a minimum of 70Hz at the chosen resolution. Anything less feels like I'm staring directly into a strobe light, and I develop a headache in a matter of minutes.

Yeah 66 hz is not very high. Will you really be running it at the maximum resolution though ?

What size of monitor is it and what res is the max that you're asking about?

66hz will hurt your eyes. would certainly hurt mine. On my old Samsung 700IFT CRT monitor, i had 85hz @ 1600x1200. 75~ was still fine, but anything below it was.. bad.

Well here is an article about refresh rate and flicker.

I always have problems if the refresh rate is set that low on a CRT, it can be especially bad working in an office since the flourescent lights also flicker at 60 hz here in the US.

It's okay if you don't use the highest resolution. You want to have 75 hz or more (preferably 85 hz).

I have a 19" CRT. I rarely go above 1152*864 because that requires refresh rates of under 100 Hz.

75-85 Hz is annoying, but tolerable. 60 Hz is awful. It isn't as bad with games, though. It's when you have a lot of white space, like in documents and websites, where the refresh rate makes the biggest difference.

No.The crap i am talking about is when you run it at a lower resolution than your native one.I upgrade my PC after a very long time thus have to play in lower resolutions quite often.

When I actually come across a game that I can't run at my native resolution even on the lowest acceptable settings (in my own judgement), I will simply choose "do not scale" in the video driver's control panel. I'd rather have black borders all around than let my LCD do a bad job of stretching the image. And it probably wouldn't last long, because having to choose a lower resolution would pretty much be the catalyst for me to upgrade.
