Actually building the rig.

Hey my parts are coming in today and this is my first time building a computer. Is there anything I need to know before starting assembly. Steps I should do first? Do I need to wear gloves or anything? I'm not really sure what to expect and I just don't want to mess it up.

try and avoid shag carpet or wool socks during assembly

and have a good set of no.2 screwdrivers handy

When i built my pc, my phenom 965 wouldnt go in. So i pushed and pushed and bent a pin. :cry: I examined the motherboard and noticed a piece of dirt in one of the holes. Removed the dirt. Bent the pin back into place :shock: and everything has been going fine for almost a year now.

Oh and forgot to mention attaching the heatsink felt like i was gonna snap the motherboard.

amd cpu's are that way..

775 socket cpus can also be that way.. i prefer non-refrence ones with screws like the cm512 or the freezer 7 pro

The stock cooler is rediculously loud, hate the noise.

Try pushing down hard on the center of the stock AM3 fan. That makes it quite a bit quieter.
