So I have decided to do a sort of upgrade/new build when Ivy bridge comes. I plan on upgrading my mobo CPU and RAM I have a mATX case along with a 500w Powersupply, a 1tb HDD Windows 7 and a monitor I also have a old HD 4850 512mb. This PC will be a single GPU build and generally be used for general computing and browsing the web. I will use my old HD4850 for now as I am not gaming that much, but would like the ability to upgrade to a better card in the future.

Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129041

Power Supply:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016

Here are the options I am considering

Option 1

2500k and ASROCK z68 board from microventer with hyper 212 plus and 8gb RAM from newegg

motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157252

I can get this motherboard and a 2500k from microcenter for $250 w/ tax. I might be abble to get a similar deal with a Z77 motherboard when they come out next week, but I'm not sure. Do you guys think that my power supply would be able to handle overclocking the 2500k and possibly upgrading to a more power hungry video card in the future?

Option 2

Wait for Ivy Bridge 3570k and Z77 boards and buy with Hyper 212 and 8gb ram

I think I might be able to get a similar deal to the one above with the 3570k but am not sure if the Z77 boards will be as cheap as the Z68 boards or if it is worth waiting for the features brought in ivy bridge/ Z77.

Option 3

Get an i3 2100 now or wait for ivy bridge equivilant and don't bother overclocking

This would be much cheaper than the other two options, but I don't want to regret not having a more powerful CPU down the line. Ideally I would like to use this CPU MOBO RAM combo for the next 5 years or so.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Are there any particular programs that you can think of that'll benefit from a better processor? Because if you don't have any applications that'll run substantially better with a processor upgrade, I'd just wait for Ivy as KABCOOL recommended.

With a board like that, be careful with the Hyper 212 (Get EVO it's better). It will most probably block 1-2 RAM slots. Another thing, if you want Ivy bridge, wait for them to come out along with the boards that fully support them. I think Ivy bridge is gonna start from 0xxx or 4xxx.

Yea I think I've decided to wait for IB. I'm not really in any rush to get this thing built, but I have a couple more questions...

Any Opinions on this motherboard

and I have another power supply from my current build and I was wondering if it would be better for this build despite being a lower wattage.

Is there a specific reason why you're always choosing a MicroATX board? If you have room in your case, go for a normal ATX board. You're GPU/Memory/SATA cable will thank you since they won't be so close together.

I already have this mATX case lying around from an old build that isn't being used anymore. It's a great case and is pretty roomy for mATX. I really don't mind using a mATX board they are generally cheaper and this will probably only ever be a single GPU rig.
