AION's open beta starts today

According to here http://eu.aiononline.com/uk/news/letter-from-aion-producer-brian-knox-on-open-beta.html the AION open beta for Europe and North America starts today. I downloaded the 9GB client and signed up to NCsoft but I still have no idea how to log into the game and start participating in the Beta. I've tried logging into the game client (which is updated) but it tells me the ID and password don't match. I'm guessing this isn't how it's done, and that I need to sign up for the beta somewhere.

Anyone else know how to join?

Yeah so where are the keys distributed? Their use of the term "open beta" is a bit confusing.

Well I'm not paying anyone to play in a beta. And I wouldn't buy the game until I had played it first.

I got into th beta. Only played about an hour so far. So it's standard MMORPG gameplay. The graphics are nice though. My biggest complaints so far (not surprisingly) arethe technical issues. Other than that it's a decent game but I don't know if I'll get it.

If anyone's finished with their beta account or has a key, let me know.

Is it the same boring gameplay as WoW? I.e. tank & spank, you select an enemy and keep reactivating the same boring skills until it's dead while it hits on a tank?F1_2004

On their website, they have a Flash banner saying "play in the AION open beta, download AION". So when you click tht banner to play in the open beta and download the client, all it takes you to is a page with links to download the client and nothing else, so I did that, I downloaded and updated the initially 9GB client, have it all set and ready to go, and don't know anything I'm supposed to do to play in the AION open beta like their banner says.

To get an open beta account, you need to pre-order the game or be a subscriber to Fileplanet.

I pre ordered the collectorrs edition and got into the beta with that. I have been playing the beta since it started today, and i absolutley love this game. The character customization is just incredible. My comp is 3 years old and the graphic settings are at about medium low, and this game still looks AWSOME. As for the first couple lvl's so far it is standard MMO gameplay, but things get a bit more interesting at lvl 10 when you get your wings, and some decent skills. I recomend you give it a try if you can get ahold of a key.

I can't think of anything I can give someone in exchange for a key, but I have an extra copy of Half-life 2 I can give away.

I pre-ordered it and I am loving the beta as well. My only complaint is some occasional lag (with everyone logging on at once). And the chat is just FILLED with WoW chat. Literally, nothing but WoW comparisons going on in chat, I would turn it off but occasionally something interesting is said ;P. By the way, as an ex-avid-WoW player, both so far truly have their pro's and con's. Being a level 9 mage right now, I'm not going to bother giving comparisons as I'm not knowledgable yet, but it is pretty fun. (One of the feeew games where even the quests are fun to read for a little while at least, on WoW I ended up just auto-accepting quests, but the written material here almost feels like a novel imo)

Ok I just signed up for the beta. I thought screw it I'm going to give it a try. I'm not even from N America but I just got round it with a proxy.

Got to level 10 today warrior/gladiator omfg its frecking amazing!! :D
