Historically, the "Alien" games were always bad.

well, i just tried out the 360 version and it really wasn't any better
blegh, i know its just a demo and i should be so negative, but by god i had hoped this game would be amazing, and i am sadly disappointed
[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]you do realize you can change the controlsThe Good = Nice graphics since its only dx9 for demo, playing as alien and predator is done well and the atmosphere is top notch
The Bad = The controls for Marine are bad, The Matchmaking is really bad (although its just the demo, dedicated servers will be in retail) and the level design of this first level could have been better. The gameplay as a marine in the online demo could have been alot better imo, feels to clumsy to me.
Overall its JUST a demo and only 1 level, no dedicated servers, Dx9 instead of dx11, only one mode/map,etc... so i wont give up on the online yet.. BUT.. the singleplayer campaign is what im looking forward to alot, so I still have hope for this game. Its already better then Rogue Warrior though lol, that was worst game ive played in 24 years.
I loved the old AvP games and im hyped for this one, the demo was a bit of a let down, but demos have dissapointed me before but the full version I enjoyed, so ill give it a chance no doubt.

You can do a few things in the options, but that doesnt change the fact that the game doesnt have very good controls, imo of course. The shooting mechanics of the marine are not very good at all.
Yes people the demo was bad but that doesn't mean the game is going to be.. I'm picking this up just because i'm a huge Pred fan. Its freggin Deathmatch people in AVP,deathmatch was never fun in avp.what do you expect and of course you have people crying about its downgraded for consoles again...
Hockey_Slayer
Doesn't that just negate the whole point of a demo? I only play demos to see if it's a good representation of the full game. Demos should always be as good as the full game if not better just to entice the consumer to purchase.
What you mean the controls are bad? I am not saying you are wrong because I have seen many people say this, but I can't really see how they are bad. I guess I am just use to clunky controls in games. Bioshock, which is still one of my all time favorite games has rather akward feeling movement. Come to think of it there are a few Unreal Engine games that don't feel fluid. Though I can't seem to find the negative in AvP.You can do a few things in the options, but that doesnt change the fact that the game doesnt have very good controls, imo of course. So sad I need someone to point this out lol.
I lol @ the folks on here who are holding on to that sliver of hope that the demo's issues will be fixed by release.
I'm willing to give slack to a feanchise/univers that I love ( I bought CnC Tiberium Sun and all of the expansions) but this demo is very sub par.
I wish this would be worth my time, but there are too many other great games comming out.

I dont mind slower games that control slower, but this is not slower controls, its clunky and not satisfying combat shooting with the marine. its nothing to do with me being bad becasue ive goten first place with the marine before, but its just to me personally.. the controls of the marine are a huge dissapointment for me.
I think the controls for the predator and alien are fine, but the combat and controls for the marine just dont feel right at all and its not satifying controlling it. It jsut feels totally wrong to me personally.
I am still excited for the game and the atmosphere was good in this demo and I had good fun palying as Alien and Predator, but the shooting controls and gameplay for the marine in the onlien demo left me very bored and un satisfied. Even after killing a bunch of people with the marines, I felt underwhelmed and not satisfied one bit.
There is slow paced controls/gameplay (which i enjoy in alot of games) and then there is clunky/unsatsying controls and average shooting mechanics (which I dont like). In the past AvP games shooting felt alot more satisfying and done alot better, just feels lazy and clunky to me personally.
- Nice graphics and godo atmosphere
- Bad controls/gameplay with the marine and horrid matchmaking (that is hopefully fixed and better in the full version).
Thats just my honest opinion as a lifetime fan of this series.
the multi player is ugly the servers is too bad . didnt like it at all i adivce every to try the games or watch reviews before they buy

and rightfully so because we want great games not average and or bad games.
Things that need to change: 1. Alien jumping and wall climbing. Needs to be like how it was in 1st AvP or even AvP 2 giving you full control "when and where you want to move" 2. Marine controls arent free flowing(best way I can explain(clunky ) 3. Matchmaking (Full game will have normal dedicated servers) 4. Predator jumping needs to be like AvP204dcarraher
You know whats really funny? people are always complaing about how games do nothing new, yet they turn right around and complain that games arnt teh same.
The games fine, this is how avp should be, AVP2 wasnt like what avp would be at all.

And this is a great game, sucks to be you if you cant see that.
Im glad so many people seem to fail at it and write it off as crap, thats one less noob who whines about how im cheap cause i killed him with anything, and one less noob to spam there mics/chat with crap.

No it's happening with a lot of people.
Is your audio sampling rate 48 kHz or less?[QUOTE="zaney"]The only reason DX11 is in the game is marketing bull with AMD/ATI. It will probably be some fx that are possible in dx10 but locked out. Compare the best dx8 games graphics to the best dx9 game and you see a huge difference. Compare the best dx9 game graphics to best dx10 game and the differences are negligible. Dx10 hasnt even been fully utilized and we're on dx11 now? ATI/Microsoft marketing nonsense Not quite. You have to consider that the majority of games out there are ports, that hurts the chances that we are gonna get some mind blowing games released when most are made for an underpowered console. Outside of that DX11 is rather promising, its the first multi-threaded DX, its allows for tesselation (which from a dev stance is a godsend) and along with DX10 the filtering and AA options are phenomenal when compared with DX9 - i.e. deferred shading along with AA in DX9 is not quite compatible. DX11's rendering path is also much more efficient when compared with DX9. Though again you are correct that we haven't seen the headway that we say going from DX8 to DX9. Give it some time though. Also consider that we are entering a stage in GPU's where its isn't all about high rez textures. LOD's for games, geometry in particular, and physics have all improved and made MASSIVE leaps since the induction of DX9.I think those that are expecting great imporvements in DX11 graphics will be disappointed. There will be a few more nifty affects, but the look and detail of the game will be unchanged from DX9. Most of the videos I have seen have been sub-par in graphics, so this game will be relying on gameplay, which is about average. This won't be terrible, but probably a decent shooter.
Cranler
There's nothing that really needs to be fixed in the demo imo. I don't have an issue with the controls really. And it's just death match mode with 8 players on match making. I'm going to wait for a review on the final product, but I don't see what is so terrible about the demo.I lol @ the folks on here who are holding on to that sliver of hope that the demo's issues will be fixed by release.

DX versions were released much faster before DX9, it was about as fast as the transition from 10 to 11. We were stuck with XP so many years and its architecture couldn't allow a more evolved DX. Developers were forced to squeeze everything from the DX9 code, that's why towards the end of its lifetime we saw such pretty games compared to the DX8 titles.
If DX10 would have lasted 5 years, we'd have seen huge differences between it and 9. It's not fair to complain.

Not everyone who has issues with the demo SUSCKS at it or is a noob as you say. I have gotten first place a bunch of times in the demo. I just have some issues with how the marine controls and how the combat is unsatisfying.
There are some things the demo does well, such as great atmsophere, making the aliens and predators handle very well and the graphics. Not everyone who has an issue with a game is a noob or sucks at it.
The big issue here is that there isn't any tutorial in the game, and you have to figure out how everything works by yourself. Some people out there doesnt have the patience and bashes the game because of its steep learning curve.
When you actually have figured out the contols you begin to realize that the gameplay has been heavely simplified (compared to AvP2). All you have to do is to get behind another player and press E, and voila! Dinners served. I wish they just changed the gameplay back to what it was in AvP2, but that's a dream not coming true I guess.
Bottom line; most AvP1/2 fans wont like this, at all.

You can't be serious. Anyone that says a flawed demo is better than two of the best FPS's in the history is just delusional. :? Go and get some sleep.

"Loads"? What, they combined two of Predator's weapons into the combi-stick and they make him search his weapons... and that's loads missing?
You people are so shallow with your complaints about "E-kills". Please, try and win a game by only doing that. Hell, try and do it more than two times in a row.
