AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 939 running at 50C+ under load - Safe?

My fan wasnt designed for Dual Core, and the temp even when idle is 40C, EEK! IS this safe?

then why did you get it? lol and for an AMD x2 too but at 40 that isn't tooo bad but its not really good either if its hitting 65C at load then you should realyl be thinking of a new fan.

you need to find out how much it is under maximum load... (my lil test for that is run a virus scan, do 2-3 video encodes at the same time and watch a HD video and see what temps you are getting)...

do a virus scan and encode too just to make sure its fully at load..

It should be ok, it would be a good idea to get a new heatsink and fan. If you get really worried about it you could underclock it.

Or you can do it the easy way and download orthos.

As for the temps i wouldnt be worried. Even on a lapped thermalright my old X2 was only 30c ish when idle. Id load up to 50ish during games.

To put it in perspective i had an older XP i eventually blew up that would get to 75c before failing to operate.

Hmm okay, though it isnt overclocked now, and the multiplier is 11 which is wierd
