AMD CPU choice

I was going to get a 720 but the day I went to get it off newegg it went to $140! It was $120 like before and now its up to $155. I have no idea why the price is so stupidly high. But im not buying it and I need a cpu for no more then $125 and I think the the athlon 2 630 could be the cpu im getting for my new gaming pc. So i ask is this the best cpu I can get now or what?

Just wait for the price to go back down, there's absolutely no reason why a 720 should cost as much as a 955.

LOL get the 630 dude... it beats the Phenom II x4 810 in wheatstone and some other CPU tests :D and its definitely better than the 720 :D and u can also unlock the L3 CACHE in some mobo's :D Go for it and OC it to 3.2GHz and ur ready to go :D drwcker

The Athlons are inferior to the Phenom IIs in gaming due to their lack of L3 cache. Don't know what you're smoking, but can I have some?

you can get the Phenom II X2 550 BE for 99 dollars at newegg. In terms of framerates, it beats the Athlon II X4 630 (and the 550 consumes less power and is cheaper then the 630).

The faster clock speed and the unified L3 Cache is more of a benefit in gaming then 2 extra cores.

You're comparing a i7 to the 620 and a 7850 to a 720? My god. Just because the 620 has a quad core doesn't make it a better gaming CPU.

HAHA i good answer! I used reverse psychology to get someone to give a well informed answer. Hopefully prices will stabilize soon and amd hasnt ended the 720. Anyone have thoughts on howl long it will take 720s price to go back down. Oh and Wireless PCI card question is still up there for anyone to answer.
