I have a 965 BE and just have the stock cooler in my Enermax Volcanus case with fans pushing air in the front and side and out the back and top. I dont overclock and just wanted to make sure that the stock fan would end up not cutting it over time or if it would end up being fine for gaming? I'm figuring it will be fine but if there's a better option to make it more stable/live longer let me know.

Well, what are your temps? The stock cooler can be adequate but not always. It all depends on what your temps are.

The stock cooler is fine. I had one on my 955 for a year with no problems (Other than it being ridiculously loud for some reason).

I've had a P II X4 945 for 1.5 years and never had problem with overheating. It's still with it's stock cooler and I don't even have a side fan blowing air into it. Though I wish I still kept track of the temperature though so I could give you some numbers.

Highest I've seen is about 51 with speedfan, I dont really know if I'm reading speedfan right since it has core and then 3 other temp readings. Anyway 51 is the highest I've seen. I'm going to crossfire two HIS 6870's later on as well so if that ends up making the case hotter and in turn the CPU i'd rather add the extra cooler sooner than later. I was also wondering if speedfan controls my fan speeds without me changing anything or do I have to go in and set stuff for it to adjust? The only reason I'm asking is I dont want it dropping fan speeds without me telling it to.

Heh well if I can figure out which temp number on the speedfan is the cpu I could tell you what I'm sitting at exactly. It's pretty goodhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811124136 is the case and I have 120 fans in the bottom portion of the side pushing in a 140 in the front pulling in and 120's on the back and top pulling air out so I have to imagine its not bad.

My 965 idles @ 45 degrees + celsius and hits 53 or so at load in an Antec Two Hundred with stock cooling and fans on low.

I have the same CPU, running on stock heatsink. I play games just fine with very nice temps. You'll be fine. Check out my sig if you're curious.

I have one intake fan, one large side-panel fan, and an exhaust fan that pushes a lot of cfm.
