which is better the best AMD CPU or the best i7 CPU? and what are the difference between the two tech-wise, and performance-wise

The Phenom IIs are a little better in some games; but if you're running intense apps I say go with the i7-920. (IF you have the money)

so the latest i7 is better as in stronger and can handle a bigger load

no the latest i7s suck. Get an LGA 1366 i7 (if you can afford it) or a Phenom II.

Yes SMC has a point here ;). You see the LGA 1366 socket interface is what the Core i9 will be running on early next year, so you see the LGA 1366 and AM3 interface are the most future proof at the moment ;). +1 for SMC and Ultimate :D

The i5 750 is a good deal pretty much on par with i7 920 but on a cheaper chipset.

Even though i7 860 and 870 is on 1156 it's better than i7 920.
