Any games as dark as Diablo 2?

I have researched all the games that are similar to the Diablo series and the only contemporary one that looks as dark, gritty, sinister and horror influenced as Diablo 2 is Path of Exile.

Anybody know of any others?

Grim Dawn is coming.

I'm sick of all these neon and pastel effect colors, which Path of Exile seems to exclude. Grim dawn has them based on the screen shots.

looks pretty sweet to me. Also, the shots they have out so far are pretty early. Game probably won't be releasing til late next year, if not later.

Path of Exile looks sweet though. I played an open beta weekend earlier this year, and it was fun. Definitely had some kinks to work out, but I'm sure it's been polished since then.

Dark Souls

Dark and Demon's Souls absolutely rulz.

This is exactly what I'm talking about and don't like:

Grim Dawn looks dark like DI and DII, not at all like Torchilght or even DIII.

1. I keep hoping that a game matches Diablo II's brilliance. DIII has it in areas, Torchilght 2 has it in areas, but overall DII still remains the king. Here is to hoping Grim Dawn blows me away.
2. I hope to see a 3D adventure (like Zelda or something similar) that is similar to diablo's sty1e. Other examples are certain Underworld, magic cards and the Castlevania games. Something very dark and gothic like. thick creepy woods, the main character maybe has a black cloak, and candles with wax dripping light up a old chapel. Stuff like that :). here are some examples I found.

I can understand that, but to be fair it is just some of the magic making it look so bright and colorful. the World is rather realistic, detailed and dark. Maybe not the MOST dark, but pretty dark.

I used to own Demons Souls and while it has some good qualities, it really frustrated me (yes I beat it) at times and almost made it not fun. I am tempted to give Dark Souls a shot cause of the cool feel, but I don't know if it is for me.

I really miss the effect of the dungeons being pitch black and the only light is eminating from your character like in Diablo 2. Patch of exile does this.

Meh this doesn't bother me too much either way. THough it would be kinda cool if it was made more important in DII. Light Radius addition was laughable.
