Spore will be out, eventually. There's also another Total War coming apparently, Empire: Total War, set in the 18th and 19th century. Then there's Red Alert 3. All promise to be out before the year is over. However, I'd say either SC2 or WH40K are going to be the best. WH40K for the win!

As geeky as that sounds the Total War games are always some of the best stategy games ever.

I don't want to seem like a pedant, but it's hard to call the Total War games RTS games. That's like calling Thief a first person shooter. The label doesn't do the game justice.
TW is an RTS/TBS hybrid, and the RTS portion of the game has little to tie it to traditional RTS games.
But that said, anyone fond of strategy should get a kick out of the Total War series.
would you consider spore an rts? at the start of the game it won't be, but over all, what would you call it? empire total war looks like a good one, but with being able to play sea battles too, it will take even more time to finish!
