It's probably because F.E.A.R. sucked and SOME PEOPLE can't understand why everyone loves it so much.

I'm no Monolith hater, however, as NOLF 1 and 2 are two of the best games out there even today.

I think their games are really overrated but do not hate it. Monolith, for example, is a way better producer but most people don't even know it exist... Vivalvival

Of course i did. The first Half Life as somewhat revolutionary indeed(and their best game) but the following ones were just generic. Anyaway i'm not going to fight any fanboy.

I really don't see how F.E.A.R. sucked. Its is awesome, one of the best FPS i have played

Of course i did. The first Half Life as somewhat revolutionary indeed(and their best game) but the following ones were just generic.

Generic? In regards to what? The storytelling, emotion of the NPCS, the visuals, the scripting, the use of physics in the puzzles?

Hmm really? I thought FEAR to be fanastic in atmosphere, presentation, and action.. It to this day has some of the best gunplay I have ever seen a game had, furthermore it had some of the most well down gun models and effects that made it feel like I was holding it.

I consider HL2 + Episodes overrated, but still great, and I would put them as my 5th favourite developer still around.

The 4 devs I like more are Relic, Creative Assembly, Monolith and Blizzard.

I believe that Valve deserves all the respect they get from everyone.. & even if there are any haters out there... those must be only 8 year old console fanboys. As far as i've seen almost every grown up PC gamer loves Valve & HL series..

Now the only Developers i really hate include BUNGIE, Epic Games & few times Capcom as well.

I second that.. one of the best fps ever!! Though some gamers hated the repetitive enemies & enviroments, the office buildings, unarmed attacks & frantic online experience... which imo made F.E.A.R so unique & special.

Yeah, thats hard to believe, I just finished playing some of Monolith's NoLF 2, great game.

Then again, HL games are even better so its surprising.

Hated Steam at first, but now that I have a faster system (disregard the specs in my Sig), I really think it works well. I also like many of the games available to buy. So I give a thumbs up to Steam at this point.

You do realize that India has almost 3-4 times the population of the United States and it's about 1/3rd the size of the United States.

I'll just assume you're being sarcastic.

The plot/universe itself is pretty average (above average for shooters, but not up there with the greatest of the genre). However, the way it's presented through the characters and environments is almost unbeatable in the FPS genre.

Pretty average? I hate to think how many other "average" games you could come up with that has what made Half Life 2 compelling.

The storytelling gives the game a magnificent story in and of itself.

Is The Count of Monte Cristo the greatest story ever told? No, it's a general story of redemption and revenge. But it's Dumas' attention to detail and flair for the dramatic that makes it resonate with so many readers. Same principle goes for something like Beowulf or Le Morte d'Arthur.
