Anyone else disappointed with Diablo 3's kiddy WoW graphics?

I know I am. Where is the dark and gritty feel that Diablo 2 had?

This makes me hate WoW even more. I can't stand those stupid kiddy graphics.

If you've seen screenshots / gameplay vids then you know what I'm talking about.

Nope. IMO, it looks just fine.

More than 3 colors = Kiddy?

I don't see a clear wow resemblance.

How about we wait for the game to official release before we trash talk on its graphics? Kinda premature for this arguement.

What's next? Starcraft 2 uses the same graphics as Warcraft 3? Look at the game, there's nothing kiddy about it.

SC2's graphics are awesome. Yeah, ok boss, it looks like Torchlight.

A lot of you guys are in denial. Hopefully Blizzard makes me eat my words.

Even if they look more colourful, they still look very nice. To be honest, the dark and gritty colours of Diablo 2 are boring now and I am sure that Diablo 3 will have stretches of both vibrance and darkness.the_ChEeSe_mAn2

Plus I am confused how it looks kiddy. Bright colors? Must be it because i forgot that all games need that beautiful gray, brown, dark brown, darker brown, and black color to look awesome. Now if you are talking about that awful Monk video that used in-game graphics (and got WAY TOO CLOSE) and looked as awful as every in-game video from WoW... then yeah I agree with that part, but not the graphics overall.

EDIT: Sorry just noticed your awesome poll. So no matter what the graphics are kiddy? Because that poll is super ridged. I voted No, but I voted No as in I don't they are a Kiddy, not that I was a dissapointed in some kind of kiddieness.

No, because how many locations have we seen in the game? We have yet to see Hell and I am sure we have yet to see a lot of different places. Those places could look dark, gloomy, and horrific, but we don't know that because we haven't seen them..........

By no, I just meant 'no not disappointed with the graphics in general'. And when I talk about the graphics I'm not talking about the colors as much as the models, if you watch gameplay vids they all have the WoW model type look as opposed to a Titan Quest realistic model type.

Yes. Beat me to it. I just ignore the delusional fanboys and Blizzard defenders and make my own judgments based on what I've seen. And up to this point, Diablo 3 is nothing impressive neither graphically nor gameplay-wise.

The only difference with the graphics from diablo 2 to Diablo 3 is polygons and a painterly quality. You give Diablo 2 a 3D make over, and you are likely to get a game that looks similar to Diablo 3 (maybe ignoring the painterly quality of textures)

EDIT: RAAAAAAAAAAAGE, Gamespot has some of the worst html code for any forum I have ever been on. Jesus Christ make the friggin code the same between quick quote and normal quote, and quoting code is buggy at best.

They don't look that "kiddy" at all, there's blood, gore, and bodies everywhere, and the colors are nice. Also, we have only seen a glimpse of this game, so there's plenty of area to look more gritty. I wanna see what Hell is gonna look like!

I agree. It looks like a natural progression from Diablo II to Diablo III to me. Just like the jump from Diablo to Diablo II. It fits.

Cartoony is different than "kiddy". You think gore is for kids? The game looks fine, and its not even near released yet.pvtdonut54

Gore was fine for me as a kid. So sure. I guess it depends on the maturity/IQ of the kid, but that's for another thread.

Sorry boss, kiddy and cartoony have virtually the same meaning to me. Southpark isn't a kid cartoon, but the art is kiddy/cartoony. But I see what you're saying.

Diablo needs to look unique and different...which it does! It has more color, more polygons (OMG! It's 3D!!!)...and that means WoW?! What are you...13 years old?!?!?!?!?

graphically speaking its quite upsetting. i hate the move there making clearly the visual art team had to rip a few pages from LOST VIKINGS when they decided to break open the mold on this baby. such a pity..

needless to say i will still get it but THE SECOND a visually altering mod arrives im investing fully into it.

I prefer cartoony style of WOW to those that fail at realism. Games that try for the realistic fantasy look just look ridiculous most of the time. For example, EQ2's original character models tried realistic failed, and made alternates that succeeded and looked cartoonish.
