I agree its not really all the wonderful. I haven't even been able to finish it, I always seem to lose interest.

Thought Kotor and Mass Effect both sucked.

Kotor had poor controls, combat and there was loading every 5 mins whichw as annoying.

Mass Effect was just so generic with bad combat again but with poor side quests and it was really repetitive once you left the Citadel going to like 3 or 4 planets doing the same old ****

I thought mass effect was a pretty good game, it's definitely more movie like compared to something like The Witcher. I didn't do many side quests so I was involved with the main story. I don't think the side quests were very good.nutcrackr
Yeah same here. I tried to do as many side quests I can on my second run through though.

I enjoyed the game for it's story elements and i thought the main enviroments were good and agree that the side missions were just a chore.

I'd barely call it an RPG, its more of a hybrid but i would definitely like to see them expand on the rpg elements - id like more loot and control over customization(appearance anyone!?) but i still liked it.

It is one of my favorite games of all time. Seriously why does everyone hate it?

People dont hate it, its just not as good rpg as neverwinter nights or kotor, an by that i mean in every way, story, levels, characters, rpg combat...etc,etc Gets too much praise for its "console dumbed down gameplay" and simplification of everything including story structure and level and repettive sidequests structure. Me? It just puzzles me how this is considered great but everrything else is just a dumbed down console game :(

We cant possibly know that by a xbox 360 preview, those previews are like peter molyneux talking on how amazing fable 2 will be. So i cant say i can belive the previews. Anyway just make the levels bigger and better designed instead of small repettive corridors and improve combat, eg more feelable weapons and beter ai thant doesnt run right at you but takes cover behind stuff while figthing. Do this and i will be happy.

Mass Effect is a good game, I enjoyed it, but it is not as great as some reviews have it. I hope they can get a bit more RPG into Mass Effect 2.

I finished it 2 days ago and for my taste, I loved it. I do not like RPGs that require 40+ hours to finish since I lack the time. I enjoyed almost everything in Mass Effect "except" the non-ending elevator rides :)

[QUOTE="MrWednesday14"]- Some of the choices were brutal and therefore pretty heart wrenching to make. One of the few times the game elicited any real emotion in me.naval

Mass Effect is my favorite game ever so I guess I was not underwhelmed with it. I loved how my actions actually had an impact on the story.

I don't actually remember my actions having any impact on the story, tbh.
Sure, a few quests ended in different ways, but since you never return to any planets I didn't feel like I'd done anything meaningful for the entire game.

Overall I thought it was an enjoyable game. My biggest beef actually was that it was just like KotOR.. yet again. I couldnt shake the feeling that it was the 4th time I played KotOR just with new skins and diffrent names.

The overall world design, the character, dialog and character systems. The stories, the plot twists the generic 'in the end you get to decide the fate of the galaxy / world / whatever. KotOR1, KotOR2, Jade Empire and now ME all feel very similar to me.

It fetl short for me too, sometimes the rooms felt empty and the galaxy map felt like a joke, the combat seemed very unpolished and cheap and i have to say its the most borring game i ever played. Still great but i did not care about dialogue choices which was the point of the game, id rather to say i enjoyed Rise of the Argonauts more.
