Anyone got their hands on Forza Horizon 3?

A friend of mine bought the game on launch- owns i7 16Gb and GTX980 - got stuttering issues at 60fps and on unlimited fps, while 30fps cap makes actions with delay.

I asked some streamer how's the performance (owns GTX1080) and he said it goes from 40-70.

Anyone mind share his experience or performance issues with the game?

I'm thinking to buy it on the 15th of October but I would like to know if I need to wait for GPU hotfix driver or some game patch.

This game was my introduction to the Windows Store. What a fucking nightmare so far. The game requires Win 10 Anniversary Edition. I had NO idea about this until purchasing it, otherwise I wouldn't have. And there's no easy refunds. This is a problem for me because my Windows 10 has been highly customized and as a result, won't upgrade. For this game I had to install a clean version of Windows with the AE update slipstreamed.

Now that I have it cleanly installed, I'm having multiple issues getting it to DL from the store.

It's absolutely insane that the people at Microsoft never heard of letting people see their download speed, or even an ETA. I mean, it's 2016 - are the employees there smoking crack?

EDIT: Turns out there are easy refunds. That would be the redeemable quality behind the MS Store.

And there is no way I am playing another Forza Horizon game on Xbox at 30fps. **** that.

I got my grabby paws on it. Pretty disappointed about the performance, was expecting to put some graphics settings down a little bit but even putting them all on Low doesn't give me consistent 60FPS. Decided to cap at 30 and turn on the Dynamic settings. I've read around the interwebs and a lot of people seems to figure that the game doesn't utilize all the CPU cores so its not optimized for older CPU's.

turn off msaa completely...there is an issue with it.

im not buying this....not because of performance but i spent time with forza apex and realized these kind of driving games bore me. i need it to be more wild and wacky.

I've been playing it and I'm having very minimum issues.

• I got just one crash and that was in the beginning of the game. Haven't had one ever since. I have about ~7 hours worth of game time.
• My frame rate stays around 60fps and during many races goes up to 85 frames per second. It sometimes dips into the 50s but nothing major.
• I have every setting at Ultra/Maxed Out EXCEPT; Shadows on High, Windshield Reflection Quality is on Medium, and 2X MSAA.
• Playing at 3440 x 1440 with a single 980Ti (since multiGPU not supported) and 3930k at 4.5 Ghz.

Overall, no regrets on my purchase. Having a blast and I love that Forza is on PC now. If Playground/Turn 10/Microsoft can fix some of the CPU issues, everyone's experience quality should increase. Maybe then I can play with 85+ fps always.

Also, I'm not a Windows Store hater. Yes the store needs improvement but I rather have these games than not at all on PC.

I bought it,my first win10 game. I have an msi1070 armor, i76600 3.4ghz , 32ram and an Asus z170 mobo. Anyways I get it to do a solid 60 fps at 1080p except the cut scenes drop to 30 ,on ultra settings. I've had absolutely no stuttering or any issues. The game is a real treat on the eyes I love it so far

I'll get it asap, would have it already but was the victim of bank fraud and literally have 48 cents to my name right now until the bank reimburses me/I get paid.

I have a 970/2500k which sounds like it could be problematic with this game. I'll report back with performance once I pick it up (hopefully tonight), but I'm expecting med-high settings with no MSAA.

I might get it when it is on sale... Hopefully the problems will be gone by then.

I'm downloading it now taking ages as expected. I bought the X1and windows 10 version so if I lent my x1 to my brother he could play it at the same time?.

I want it, but I'll definitely hold off for a while until it is cheaper and patched. I've enjoyed Apex a fair bit on my machine and it runs ok (970 and i5 6500), but this sounds worse in terms of performance at this time and is not free

Yeah..... Not only is it not free, but you have to pay full price for it because there are no cheap keys available outside of the Windows Store at the moment. Seriously... $80 CAD + tax (standard edition) is ridiculous. I can't believe people usually pay that much for a game these days.

The Store will improve as time goes on (anyone remember how unstable and crap Steam was when it launched?). The important thing is that PC gamers are getting heaps of games that used to be console exclusive. The more titles for our hobby the better.

You did zero research eh? Horizon is the exact opposite of Apex. That's why there's two different Forza's. Horizon is a wacky and wild open world arcade racer and Apex is more serious. I really dislike Apex, quite boring to me. Anyways this game is awesome af. Best racing game in years.

So I tried the disabling Core 0 thing for Forza H3 in the control panel and it boosted my frames by a good bunch. Now I'm getting 80 frames per second or higher. The workload has been divided for the rest of the CPU threads to process.

My GPU usage is now at 99%. So now I'm actually bottlenecked by the graphics card.

Yay!!! Anyone with a hyperthreaded Quad, Hexa, or Octa core CPU should give it a shot.

downloaded it and played a couple hours, performance is about what I expected with my 970/2500k combo, I struggle to maintain 60fps on med but I can pretty much max everything out and stay at a solid 30fps so for now I think I will play that way.

30fps feels like garbage in fps games with a mouse but I find it tolerable when using a controller in a racing game. Definitely feels better at 60 but the hitching makes it hard to drive when it happens. Its also kinda worth putting up with 30 for the visuals, game is a stunner

Yes I like to win, but not by 20+ seconds with a DS4. I'm using a kb to play now (yeah yeah I know), but at least its more competitive.

Just played it now and after 40mins it just froze greee.

Im not paying that much for a game, which to me looks unimpressive to be honest. The standard edition here in switzerland costs 80 chf in the windows store, which is 82 USD, which is even higher than the CHF prices on steam and its the freaking standard edition lol...

Launch the game and then open the Task Manager. (CTRL + ALT + DEL)

Go to the details tab and find the Forza game. Right click on it, go to Set affinity, and Uncheck Core 0 (or the actual Core that is being pushed to 100% usage)

does this only help for cpu's with hyperthreading?

Move to Linux and not be able to play 90% of the games? Why? No one lost their Win7/8 licenses after upgrading to 10, so just go back to those.

Yes. Doing this on a i5 is not recommended since you will only have 3 threads for the game to run on. FH3 doesn't like 3 threads. It wants 4 threads at minimum.

The first race is a car vs a helicopter dragging a car on a tow line through the sky. The helicopter then drops the car from the sky mid way through and you then race the car while doing jumps that are like 500 feet long.

This is true - but Windows 7 is going at XP direction where the support will end in few years from now - I tried once to find some XP driver/ KB update that only Microsoft Database kept - it ended up saying to the customer that he should upgrade the whole OS or buy XP ready printer or some other device; Doom is an excellent example of modern game that works great and looks great with OpenGL 4.5 - so if devs would like to follow that direction - I don't see a reason not to.

lol new gerforce experience is crap. Got a 1080 gtx and a I7 6700k at 4.5ghz and 16gb ram but yet Geforce Experience says for optimal settings to turn off MSS and have FXAA on. Only at 1080p resolution too. This PC is well above the recommended specs as well so what gives?.

I don't use GE I choose my own options I was just checking to see what that gave and its crap at best.

Any one no how to delete save game (profile) so can start fresh?. I tried You can delete game data by going to Settings, Apps and features, click on Forza Horizon 3, click Advanced options, then click the Reset button but all it does is re set graphics as it syncs data and cant cancel it. :(

Just ignore Geforce Experience's recommended settings, they're always wrong and that's not just with the update they've thrown out. I don't think there is a single game on my PC that matches the recommended settings, it even recommends 1080p resolution when my monitor is native 1440p. I have a Zotac 980Ti Amp Extreme (+33% overclock on reference settings), i7 4770k at 4.5Ghz 16Gb RAM

Consider yourself lucky, some of us with a 970 are getting 4k DSR with everything at max.

Sure they do it to make you think your card is not good enough or to make your card look like it under performing. For those couple who don't no how to change settings them selfs or daren't.

Just noticed in character select in forza horizon 3. to me it seems there only one white person to choose from. If it was other way round it be racist.

I'm about to refund the game.

1) Poorly Optimized / Graphics Aren't Good. Graphically looks worse than GTA V (in virtually every sense), but runs significantly worse as well. Even at a locked 60 FPS, there's just bizarre hitching and stuttering. The pop-in in this game is a fucking joke. Game objects like grass pop in 20 ft in front of you while you're driving.

2) Gameplay isn't great. The driving feels unresponsive and the physics of the vehicles are just plain janky. There's so much wasted time in this game. I want to just hit a few buttons in race - I don't want to have to spend 5 minutes pointlessly driving in between my races. It's just boring. I'd say at least half of my time in this game is spent on shit that nobody wants to be doing.

3) The multiplayer is awful. It's like GTA V online, except worse. You can't instantly race or anything - you have to drive around just to get to an MP lobby, wasting huge amounts of time in between races, and you have pretty much zero options to customize what sort of MP experience you're looking for. In short: it's shit.

So yea, if you're looking for a game where you can just waste time driving around - this is a great game. If you actually want to race, I'd pick anything else.

I'm going to give it a few more days because you get a week to refund Win Store games, but I'm just feeling like this is certainly a game to be picked up from the bargain bin. This feels like a low quality port of a low quality game designed for people who unfortunately never got to experience what real fun arcade racing games are like, such as Burnout 3. Playing this just makes me depressed, wishing I was playing a new Burnout title or something.

On my 144hz monitor when locked fps in game options I only have. 36, 72 and 144 option and not a 60 option. Is that normal?.

that sounds like double buffer alright, so most likely you can't use the ingame settings, have to use rivatuner or smt similar or set the monitor to 120hz

Take away all the technical problems and ignore the mediocre online and I say it's a solid 7/10 game, maybe 8/10. Honestly it's just not for me. It's far from a straight-forward racing game, and in the end that's all I really wanted.

Sounds like you don't like racing games period...unless you're a fan of Mario Kart...lol. Anyways, I wasn't aware that you needed Windows 10 Anniversary Edition to buy this game. I've been holding off on it temporarily. I mean, I may pick up an Xbox One S before the end of this year, so I might just grab it for the console; without dealing with any issues. I do own a Qnix 1440p Monitor and I'm running on a GTX 980, I can already tell I'll roughly be hitting 30 frames by the chart...
