Anyone here lug their desktop with them to uni or "college"?

I plan to take my desktop (sig) to university with me, or "college" for you americans. Anyone else done this, and how easy did you find bringing it back and forth from home during the big holiday breaks?

I'm also tempted to go dual monitor whilst at uni, what do you think?

I took my desktop to uni.

It wasn't all that difficult taking it back and forth really, although I did have a much smaller monitor back then. And the only reason I took it back and forth was so I could work on my practical projects and assignments over the holidays (I did music technology, see.) If I didn't need it for that, I probably would have just left it at uni over the holidays.

and FYI: "university" isn't exclusive to British English, and "college" isn't exclusive to American English. A college is different to a university.

Yeah, I've got my desktop here. It's not bad bringing it back and forth the couple of times I've done it; I still use the original box with the foam packaging (yeah I have a Gateway, I bought it when I didn't know as much about PC's). Also, the folks have an extra 30" 720p LCD so that I don't have to bring my monitor. Pretty convenient.

If your going to be in halls then you had better check on the power allocation, my friend was in uni a few years back and she barely had enough power to run her laptop a radio and the kettle all at once..

As far as holidays , you can rent a small storage unit for about £5 a week to keep your puter safe.

Ha, that sounds familiar. At Tech, I brought my custom build, and it blew the breaker in the hall :shock: All I did was turn on the monitor, tower, and 5.1 speaker system. The right side of the dorm hall didn't have power for about 20 minutes.

I want to, but i'm not going to. I feel that I would get distracted to easily.

I lived on rez last year in an apartment style dorm and my roommates and I all brought our desktops. I'm living in an apartment now so of course I have it on me.

I only brought the desktop home for summer, otherwise it was here.
