Wondering what fans of the series think of the new one?
Few friends have said they are a bit dissapointed (one said its worst of the series by a long shot), another said its not all that bad but definatly not best of the series.

Curious to see what the gamespot community thinks of the game so far! Any early impressions?

I loved this series when I was younger so kind of on the edge as weither to give this one a go or not, might wait for a sale as I still do have the last Kings Bounty to go through

I am really on the fence with purchasing this one. I think it will be a gameI pick up much later on after at least one expansion pack. Personally I am rather disappointed with the factions availalbe and factions/units left out of the game. Then again I think a lot of people are.

Over at the Ubisoft forums there is word that a patch will introduce a real town screen. I played a bit of the demo which unfortunately has a lot of graphical glitches for me but in terms of music, graphics and the battles, the game is pretty good.

For the moment I think I'm going to stick with Kings Bounty. New one coming out next year too! Hell I've still got to play my GOG version of Heroes 3 anyway. :P

Played at a friend during the beta, will also play some more next week when I go visit him again, but even in the beta it was easily the best, my only problem is that it doesn't have the charm V had, loved that one. I'm personally not getting it, not yet, I'll wait for a decent price drop on the CE, because I really want it, but not for 100$.

I did, but I am getting some mouse flickering problem, so haven't played . From what I played only thing I can say is graphically it looks quite pleasing.

Overall i cant say im impressed with the game from what i have seen so far. Throw in the reduction of stuff and overall lazy design choices... Yeah...

Yeah some of the design choices really do seem rather silly.

played a bit of it - after King's Bounty, it's really hard for HOMM to keep existing, and with homm VI, it's not really trying to make a stand against KB.

The game is decent at best, compared to KB it's pretty bad imo thou..

I purchased it yesterday but haven't played it...with that said the above statement is what worries me. The new King's Bounty series is brilliant. Polished on every level, beautiful, wealth of options both on and off the battlefield, and really made some fantastic design decisions.

Big fan of the HOMM series too, but after playing the HOMMVI demo, and of course previously investing over a 100 hours in KB, the HOMMVI demo came off as really underwhelming. I still got the game though, and I am hoping the full game is better than what the demo led me to believe.

I have played all of the HoMM series, and got a chance to play about 3 hours of the digital deluxe version of MMH6. So far I find it extremely addictive, with that one-more-turn gameplay I have loved over the series. Its definitely different in many ways, including the skill trees of heroes, online Dynasty, etc. But I sure am glad I picked it up for 20% off at Amazon. I have a feeling its going to be on my monitor for many weeks to come.

I played the demo and based on that I'm going to pass. Maybe I've become to used to KB but I disliked the town interface and combat seems clumsy and unpolished.

I have to agree with this post, the demo was incredible lackluster, along with the sound design, questionable combat animations and perspectives, and the voice acting -- the Orc voice was the final nail in the coffin.

Can it possibly be worse than Heroes V? Not that Heroes V was notably bad gameplay-wise, but we are talking about a game that on the top end hardware of that time period, you'd spent a few seconds taking your turn, then you'd wait 1+ min for the AI turns to finish on the later campaigns.

It's fun and addictive, but they need a random map generator.

I think King's Bounty is the new HoMM. It has much more personality, beautiful and whimsical graphics, and has done more for the genre than HoMM has lately.

King's Bounty is not the same kind of game, it's strictly based on "fun" eliminating a lot of the TBS elements keeping just the battles, HoMM was and always will be more serious and complex, also a lot more time consuming.

Actually, King's Bounty was the inspiration for HoMM. And it was made by the same company. And shares the same play mechanics.

The old one was the inspiration, but current King's Bounty, the one that's being played atm is totally different. King's Bounty, is a fun, interesting adventure, HoMM is about more.

Something can't replace another when that certain something doesn't offer what the other offers.

I'm playing it right now. It looks good. I like the art direction and every little detail. If you're going for single-player, the campaign has a few interesting moments as well as pretty cool characters. Map creeping is boring as hell and the neutral creature growth is pretty weird (It stacks with your hero all the time, so if you wait 2 weeks or so to gather up a army, from the trivial 10 Lightning Elementals encounter, you get to a beefed up 50 Elementals, who unfortunately will wtfpwn your core creatures.). The skills and items look good. You have some really great stuff you can use, alot of consumables, etc. There are some problems with the Conflux servers, from what I can see....not a big deal, but annoying at times. Anyway, to sum it up, if you're a fan of the series, you'll like it. If not, well....its a love or hate game.

THE ABOVE WAS A QUOTE FROM, yea well, ME :P

I could not quote my self, like I can quote you guys (the message was unclickable, bug?)

Anyways, I have played a bit more of Heroes VI since my last post and I have to admit, that I might have been WRONG (omg, am I really writing this?).

Heroes VI is actually really good, it's a good story (oppinions differ, but I think the story is good, and I like the way it cross over in chapters), very well made and a good way to make all the different race's campaigns intertwine.

The battling is good (standard HOMM) and the level up of the hero, and the ability to PLAN and CHOOSE your skill's as you level up work good - as good as it does in King's Bounty.

So yea, basically I changed my oppinion from saying: Heroes VI is Decent

to saying: Heroes VI is a good game, it successfully make a stand against King's Bounty and is utilizing it's "empire" (castle, resource, etc.) well and how it could be expected.

Pro's: Good ol' HOMM, good change to hero lvl up system, good story, decent graphics (I know Graphics mean sh1t in a game like Heroes VI, but they are not "hurting my eyes"), good atmosphere and immersion factor in both gameplay and gameplay story.

Con's: takes a little getting used to after playing KB ( not necessarily a bad thing thou ), they changed the way you "ENTER" one of your towns - basically, you ride into a town on the campaign map and instead of changing screen to a town screen, you get a pop up box on the campaign map, with information of your town, and instead of having a full screen town, there is a small "picture" of your town spinning around in a small box.

Those are my 2 cent's, really felt I had to change my prior statement, because of it's inaccuracy after playing a bit more than a bit of Heroes of Might & Magic VI.

Happy gaming fellow GS'ers :)

Completed Haven Campaign as well now, if you like the other HOMM games or even King's Bounty, you should really not miss out on this one :)

Campaign is still decent, im doing sanctuary campaign atm. and it's looking good so far.

This game is actually pretty long, I think the length of HOMM VI can compete with King's Bounty.

- JUST ANOTHER TURN!!

HoMM games can't compete with KB in terms of length :P KB doesn't come even close, that's without multiplayer and various custom maps.
