im lookin to build a new gaming computer for about 600-800$

was wondering if anything from my old HP would be salvagable'

processor: AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-core 2.10GHz

4gb ram

350w PSU

Geforce FT 220

500gb HDD

I think there's some restriction as to how much hardware you can switch before your OS is locked, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can answer that question better than I can.

what OS are you running tc?? and do you have the install disks for it??

64 or 32-bit??

64-bit your golden but you will probably need to reinstall windows 7 once you start swapping the motherboard.

Quick question about OS. My pops has a copy of Windows 7 64 bit, would I be able to use it for another rig also or is it only allowed on one rig at a time?

You can use the disk to install it but you'll need another CD key.

This is what i did and i had an old HP which is now something else. ^^ Oh, i swapped the HDD for a bigger one.

K first of all, you can retrieve your old DDR2 ram, don't know why anybody didnt say that. There ARE DDR2 (AM3) mobos out there still, that's $25 less you'll have to spend on RAM.

You can also salvage your HDD, dvd burner, 350W PSU (backup), GT 220 for physx (get the right mobo for this if you really want it)
