Hi, I purchased APB a few days ago, and the installation went just fine. However, when I was in the character creation menu, my screen turned black after a few seconds, though the screen was clearly still on. I heard the music going on for a few moments, then nothing. ( Ctrl+Alt+Del and that kinda stuff didn't work. ), so I had to hard boot. When I turned my computer back on, which took an unusally long time, my resolution was diminished a LOT. So I contacted Realtime Worlds' Tech Support, whom I sent my DxDiag to and who advised I update my video card driver and my operating system ( which I did ). Full of hope, I try to play my game, and Oh Joy, finally get to play a bit. However, after about 10 minutes, the crash occurs again. I hard boot, but when I turn my PC back on, the resolution is unchanged. So I give the game another shot. I wanna make a new character, but this time I don't get past the character editor ( it crashes). I contact Tech Support AGAIN, and they tell me to download and install Nvidia's latest " PhysX " . I do that, and then try and play. I enter the server just fine, play a few minutes, and it crashes. These crashes seem totally random, both by the moment they occur and the "hangover" ^^ my computer has at restart. What do you advise? I REALLY wanna play this game coz' it cost me a fair amount of money and it looks absolutely fantastic. Thanks in advance.

I guess I should.... but if Tech Support can't help, what are the chances someone on the forum can?? I'll give it a shot anyway.

Actually, higher. If I remember right, there is a certain tech person over there who is really good (hell, even better than Tech Support at times).

Those random crashes was actually one of the beta testers major complaints to Realtime, Don't know how many times I had to hard boot my computer during a 4 hour playsession. In anycase you'll just have to talk to the Tech support when it happens, because what's causing the problem is unknown.

xD it happens ALL the time. Sometimes I play 10-15 minutes in a row and it crashes, others, I play 1 minute and it's over ...

Also, I know an error message usually appears, would you mind to post it?

It might have been an already resolved by the forums issue.

Agree with the other posters, while I crashed a few times during my 5 hour beta, a friend of mine would constantly crash every 10 minutes. It's a problem with the game.

I'm afraid neither of us bought the game (crashing was one of the main reasons), we did try troubleshooting during the beta but there was no solution available at that time. Sorry I can't be more help! I would give the forums a shot though, sometimes lots of suggestions from different people can be better than one tech support guy, good luck.

OK ! I was told to update my BIOS to the newest version. I go to my manufacturer's wwebsite, download the latest one, and when I want to install it, I get this : "WinPhlash User Interface ceased working" and the installation is aborted....... Will this ever end?!?!?

Okay, let me say something that APB's unofficial trouble-shooter would say. Have you updated ALL your drivers?

Do you have an antivirus running?

Does it still crash if you turn it off or pause it?

1) No , I haven't, but I guess I should. ( If a brand name appears on my drivers, should I go to their website and get it there? Noob question xD ) 2) No I haven't tried pausing it. 3) I'd like to find a way to install this m************ BIOS update.... I took a screenshot of my Driver Genius scan, but I can't join it, so I'll list the old drivers manually. - Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers - Cmedia CM-108 Like USB Audio Drivers -Realtek GbE & FE Ethernet PCI-E NIC Drivers -JMicron IEEE 1394 Host Controller Drivers -JMicron JMB38x Card Reader Drivers -Intel Chipset Device Software -Intel Wireless Wifi Link Adapters Drivers I could look for all of the updates for these alone but that would take a lot of time, so could you guys gimme a hand??

I suggest you update the Realtek HD Audio Driver first. That was one of the issues that could cause a crash.

Alright, I've downloaded and installed the driver that seemed the most recent. Now, my driver is older than the one I started off with ô_O
