Depends on what you currently have. I have a 6950 that serves me perfectly so I may even wait one more generation.

If you need an upgrade now, just go for it. Of course next gen will be better, but if you're always waiting for next gen, you'll never get anything.

No cuz then you'd be wanting to upgrade each year.

We ask ourselves that same question every year.

What's the point of waiting? Just get an older powerhouse card rather than blow it all on "the world's fastest video card" that'll just be another 100$ card in a couple years. I'm still on my 9800GT. I've upgraded everything EXCEPT the video card. Now I'm probably about to get a GTX560 for the same price I got my 9800GT a couple years ago. I love how prices deteriorate exponentially every year.

no point in waiting unless it's the beginning of a dawn of new tech (like when DX10 cards first came out)...which now isn't one of those times. Otherwise you'd always be waiting. New crap comes out every year

i don't really think it worth the wait you shoudl grab a GTX 670 or 7870 and call it a Year for gaming if you need gaming on PC at max that is i don't think Kepler Sucessor Will launch before March next year since little info is given about the successor prowess aside of the roadmap claiming that maxwell will have

Double Precision GFLOPS PER wats from 6 to 16 i don't know if that mean a huge stepfoward in power consumpation like GTX 480 versus GTX 680 or simply a Card 3x stronger then GTX 680

and beside ain't HD7970 having more then twice the DP Then Kepler and yet not stronger then GTX 680 in most of game

There won't be a massive leap in technology with the next generation.

If you buy a top of the range card now, it will play everything you could possibly throw at it in ultra settings.

And you could always whack in a 2nd or 3rd card.

You know I was gonna wait because my GTX 460 just don't cut it any more. Sure it can still play games fine. But I want all eye candy and solid frame rates. Given that these companies don't give out any info. I just settled for a dual GPU single card. I figure it will take 2 gens to be beat (single GPU card) and should last a good solid 5 years at current game graphics growth rate. I'm going to wait till September. That's when I'm going to get my GTX 690 and if I don't hear anything about the next cards I'm hitting the "check out" button. I figure if I don't hear anything, a GTX 690 would pretty much last the life of my system any ways. By the time I would need to upgrade the GPU... Better CPU's and RAM would be on the market.

Buy a good card now and when it's time to kick it up, SLI is always an option.

unless you want to spend 500.00 on a brand new gpu then go ahead. i never spend more than 250 on 1 and i replace them every 3 years. the software will never be caught up with the hardware especially with consoles lasting 8 years.
