That depends on what you have right now - but I'm curious as to why your motherboard would support a 65nm LGA 775 800MHz FSB dual-core Pentium D and not an Intel Core 2 Duo E4300. I'm also sort of curious as to when they made 65nm Pentium processors - did I miss something, or have they been out for a while?

In a word: NO. They suck. They could get low to medium on new games. Older games they should get med- high. You will not be getting high on STALKER and Sup Com. Also whats the rest of your rig.

Wait - you already own a Pentium D @ 3.0GHz, and you want to buy a new one clocked at the same speed? What motherboard do you have?

he's lying. in other threads he mentions that he has a x200 integrated chip and hes asking whether he should buy the x1900gt. stop lying, if you want help, dont post your fake setups. i have a question though, i dont know of any mobos that are lga 775 and support pc3200 so why were u looking to buy pc 3200 in another thread? what mobo do you have? be more specific and list all your parts including case, mobo, everything and list model numbers.

Okay, so what exactly do you have now? Motherboard model, processor, RAM, video card, power supply the whole works. If it's a pre-built machine, the make and model of that machine may help out as well.

Okay, I've never heard of that motherboard before, and ASUS doesn't seem to know what it is either - but if your motherboard supports an 800MHz FSB, an dual-core Pentium processors, it should support Core 2 Duo as well.

ASUS doesn't have that motherboard on record - the closest thing that I really see much about is the P5RC-LS motherboard, but from what I see about that one, it doesn't even support dual-core processors like the Pentium D.

If your a gamer go for core duo not that D junk. E6300 to E6700 are the great ones without costing a fortune. And make sure your next machine as 2 gigs of ram, kinda what you need for todays stuff.

Actually, they do. You can get LGA775 server mobos. Anyway, Pentium Ds are good budget CPUs, but they're not great for gaming. I've got one, but it's heavily overclocked and even then, it gets beat out by the E6400.

Pentium D's arn't terrible, I mean if you get a high clocked one they arn't too bad.. If you getl ike high end ones 3.6 ghz 3.8 ghz you might compete with an e6300, if you waste money and get the 1000 one clocked a 3.73 ghz you will beat an amd 4600... or you can get a qx6700, and whop everything X-D I couldn't find any information I am going to say no, and i was readng stuff and it was saying it was a p4 board... So I would have to say you need a new motherboard.

People are hardware snobs, yes the Pentinum D is not as good as a C2D. But they are cheap and they still offer good performance. If you're going to get a new cpu only look at the end of line Pentium D's. The 940 (3.2) or a 960 (3.6) are nothing to sneeze at. coupled with 2GB of ram and an 8800GTS would be a good gaming comp for quite some time. Is it as good as a C2D system, no, but it will be hella better then what you got now. I wish i knew where everyone gets all this money for the latest gear, cause it doesn't grow on trees around me :(

one question, why would u use ddr2 pc2 3200? thats just about the worst ddr2 ram u can get. pc 3200 is good for ddr, but for ddr2 its hella slow. ur ram probably has high latencies with slow speed, so in combination u got some pretty bad ram. why don't you just scrap the system and make a new one? i dont think it would be that hard, but your budget might not support it.

CHEAP!?!?!? the conroe e6600 is cheaper then the pentium D 3.6ghz.

In fact i rather get a conroe e6300 for 183$ then any pentium D.

So would I but his motherboard doesn't support a C2D... the 960 is only $30 more then the e6600... we all know that the C2D is better but he is limited by the system he already has, unless he wants to do a full MB/CPU/Ram replacement which is more costly then just getting a faster CPU.

We dont even know what he has. There is no asustek agena... what he should do is call the compagny and ask then what he can upgrade too.

We dont even know what he has. There is no asustek agena... what he should do is call the compagny and ask then what he can upgrade too.Bebi_vegeta

The Asustek Agena are OEM boards made for HP/Compaq They don't support C2D, follow the link.

So would I but his motherboard doesn't support a C2D... the 960 is only $30 more then the e6600... we all know that the C2D is better but he is limited by the system he already has, unless he wants to do a full MB/CPU/Ram replacement which is more costly then just getting a faster CPU. BigD
by logic if you are suggeseting getting a 350 buck Pd, he'd be getter off buying a C2D mobo and e6400

Actually, they do. You can get LGA775 server mobos. Anyway, Pentium Ds are good budget CPUs, but they're not great for gaming. I've got one, but it's heavily overclocked and even then, it gets beat out by the E6400.

Pentium D CPU's are definitely not budget CPU's the Pentium D I got now is the best Pentium D you can get and it cost the same as a core 2 duo. Pentium D are Ok for gaming I mean I don't have any problems with mine they are also good for overclocking I can overclock mine from 3.4GHz to 4GHz easley

Pentium D's are budget CPUs. Ask Intel themselves. Compare and contrast most Pentium D prices to Core 2 Duo prices. Also, when people say that they aren't good for gaming, they're talking about a Pentium D in comparison with an Athlon X2 or Core 2 Duo. The Pentium D gets it's ass whooped. Actually, the Pentium D gets it's ass whooped in a lot of things, and that's coming from an Intel fan.

and can you show me your 4ghz overclock.

Don't forget the ram.... a 350 cpu is hella cheaper then a 200 cpu 200 mb and then 200 in ram.
