Are these players cheating in MW2? Or am I crazy

So, I play online for the pc a lot. I like to stab people and use the best set up for it to make me the fastest

I see guys using a riot shield and bazooka fly by me and i cant catch them when i chase. Are they cheating or am i doing something wrong. I know speed hacks exist and I think some of the people i play with are using it. It just doesnt make sense for someone to clear that much distance from someone using a fast movement setup, but they have heavy weapons and shields on their back.

ill have to get it on video and upload it to xfire or youtube for people to see

it happens often to me, im chasing someone down with the fastest setup i can get and someone with a rocket launcher or riot shield blows past me, or if i were sneaky and got behind him on a straight path, i cant catch them

TONS of ppl cheat on MW2 PC. Thats why it sucks.

It only seems that way because there are so many people palying it. Real hackers never last more than 2 days or so. Vac will get you regardless of what you try to do.

I have to totally disagree with the members saying VAC does it job in a timely manner. I've been on steam since the beginning. I've seen friends run through crazy gambits of hacks in cs1.6, cs: source etc etc and it take vac 5-6 years before there account gets banned. The whole vac system is horribly inadequate. Infact, almost every game that runs through steam (except mw2 because of lack of Dedicated servers) has to have community base anti cheating systems in place to stop hacking. "source bans, Kigen anti cheat (KAC) and, steambans just to name a few.

Question: When they passed you by did they seem to be slightly crouching rather than sprinting or walking straight?

If so, then this is not a cheat. They are holding an emergency drop flare without using it. This is the fastest setup in MW2. Just get a killstreak up until you recieve the emergency airdrop. Take it out without using it ( don't throw it ) and you'll be fast. Excellent for knifing.

But other than that, MW2 is marred by hacks and cheats. I stopped playing it because of that.

The care package glitch was fixed. When you hold the care package flare and run with it, that is totally patched. However, Emergency Airdrop in the same manner is something I've never heard of or tested. But they were standing up. Actually it happened again last night in Sub Base. A guy with a rocket on i think an ARC rifle past me while i was camping waiting to knife people behind boxes, i pursued and he flat out outran me, i couldnt catch him and i chased him for about 15 seconds until he pulled away too far for me to hope to catch him, so i had to pull the uzi out and shoot :[ I'm 100% sure its a cheat now, there is just no way unless there is yet another glitch i am unaware of

Modern Warfare 2 is FULL of hackers... the people you saw were probably cheating ...nevralgo

Like what? Bad Company 2? Lol, that game is worse than MW2 by far. There are more problems with that game than MW2 times 10. Id rather deal with the occasional cheater than play BC2 again online.

VAC in general is bad, howerver its MW2 service is prime. You cannot beat it, and it will detect you within a few days at the most. No hacker lasts more than 2-3 days before a ban is issued. Not one. It's got a 99% win record. Out of a million players playing at any given time, seeing a 1 or 2 legit hackers is a rare thing and overly hyped during your day. It's no where near as bad as people say.

Bc2 sucks, its sluggish and not at all fun to me.

I'm assuming that he's using commando because he would like to use commando as knifing can be a fun process in the game. I hate how people that play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 find reasons to WHINE about EVERYTHING on the game. "Look at that guy using a grenade launcher!" "Look at him using commando" "Look at that guy sniping!" etc etc etc. Noob tubers, snipers, knifers.. These were put in as part of the game. You can't expect people to not use the features of the game the way it was meant to be used.. Just because you keep getting killed by them, pathetic.

Lol do you have experience with hackers in BC2? They do not get banned faster than MW2. Sorry, VAC and whoever is monitoring cheaters vis steam is lightning fast. 3 days if you are lucky. Nobody ever lasts more than that, and thats the time it takes to issue the ban...detection occurs immediately.

I agree, but I am not a team player and big maps annoy me. MW2 is where i plan to stay until something much nicer comes out, that isnt bc2 at all. It's like MW2s autistic cousin that is really sexy

Thank you. My current problem is that I haven't played MW2 in PC since early after it's release due to losing the disc and restoring my computer. Also, I do have it on Xbox 360 atm, but would rather have it on PC. Are the hacking issues really as big of an issues as they're exaggerative out to be on this forum? For example, should I play 10 games. How many hacking attempts on average would I encounter?

Almost every online game has them, if you refuse to believe that I have some ocean front property to sell you in Nebraska. :)

You're mistaken there, kryptonianpride; I know some guys who've been playing MW2 with a hack/cheat for several months. They have not been banned yet.

Hacks exist in all games, but the problem with MW2 is you can't kick them manually with a majority vote during a match. Other games give that option.
