Definitely. Left 4 Dead is more or less the game I wanted Doom 3 to be. I've already spent almost 18 hours with the demo (since 11th, not 6th).
Can't wait for the full game.
Not to change topics, but where did you find that theme for steam? I've never seen any other themes other than the 4 default ones. And yes, I will be getting Left 4 Dead. hlcsbaby
RoyDarkle v1.1
There are lot of good ones but this was the one that fit my Vista Virtual Styl best at the time,
Sadly I cant Find another one to fit My new Vista theme. but I still like the Look of RoyDarkle, It looks alot better then that Default Green one.:|
no. its a four hour game, where you play the same four hours over and over..Ninja_Dog
And Counter-Strike is the same 35 minutes you play over and over...
single player, coop, and multiplayer are the same levels. its not a lot of content when you think about it. Ninja_Dog
A lot of content isn't really necessary right out of the box for those who find it fun. I will have spent over 20 hours with the 30 minute demo by the time the full game comes out. The full game has around ~300 hours of gameplay, then there'll likely be additional campaigns from Valve, custom maps, mods...
There's a lot to the game, but you need to find it fun in the first place to appreciate just how much there is.

rofl wtf 20 hours on the demo that u say is "30min". WOW idk which demo ur playing but the one i was playing with the 2 levels only took about 5 - 10 min to complete each level maybe a lil more on expert level. u must have played those 2 levels about a million times each. i hope in that 300 hours of gameplay they mentioned they include levels which acctually require u to have some skill and use ur brain to solve sumthing rather than just mindless blowing up zombie as they run to you.

First you say you don't know which demo I'm playing because I claim it's 30 minutes long, then you say there are two levels that are over ten minutes each. More than 10 x 2 = around 30. You can count, right? As for the 20 hours, sure, I've played it a lot. Around 40 times. Each time is different and each time is fun.

There is skill involved, but the focus isn't on individual 'twitch' skill as much as the focus on teamwork. The game demands organisation and coordination, and it's that knowing how to function as a team that is the 'skill' of the game. For example, I have played games on advanced where the team couldn't get through it because people weren't playing well as a team. It's a lot like a MMO group in that sense.
I have also read that each campaign is harder than the campaign before it. Remember, the demo is the first 30 minutes. It's the tutorial section of the game.

Heh, people say this about L4d a lot and it's so stupid. All, and I do mean all FPS games are dumb. There is no thought involved with any of them. It's either twitch skills, teamwork/organisation skills or a mixture of the two. That's it. If you're thinking, and not acting on instinct, you simply aren't playing a FPS.
Nope. I tried the demo and didn't like it. I thought the co-op aspect was great, but the movement speeds of both the players and the zombies made it feel like Quake V, Attack of the Rotting Bunny Hoppers, not a zombie game.

Pre-purchased and pre-loaded. I can't stop playing the demo, it's pure B-movie zombie awesomeness. Probably the best co-op game ever made.
Those who are saying there's little content may have had a point if it was anyone else, but this is a Valve game. You know they're commited to heavy post-release support. It's also going to be a community driven game with loads of user-created content. And besides, it's an extremely polished and insanely entertaining game with loads of replay value. Very similar to Team Fortress 2 in that regard, I'm not worried at all that I'll be getting my money's worth - and then some.
i might every one seems to like itiki080Just because everyone else likes it may not mean YOU'LL like it. I personally loved the demo and can't wait to buy this on tuesday. Try the demo at steampowered.com

That's exactly why it doesn't resonate with me. It feels just like every other twitch shooter out there. The zombies might just as well be aliens or nazis or the fodder of any number generic shooters. Apart from the co-op aspect of L4D, there's just nothing distinctive about it. Feels and plays exactly like any number of forgettable Quake, UT, or HL2 mods. It could've been something special and distinctive if they'd just slowed it down and played up the tension and fear aspects. Instead, they went for the same, dull, bunny hopping, high speed, "wave of enemies" cliche that we've seen a thousand times before. It's boring.

I agree,Â
It would have been so much better if they chose the traditional mindless, Romero shuffling zombie horde that we are all familiar with. Rather than the 28 Days Later super mutants.
This game had so much potential to be a true Co-Op zombie survival game, but instead it feels more like a zombie version of "The Club", where 4 people have to run through a zombie themed shooting gallery to earn points.
Â
I bought it the day it became available with the private demo. I downloaded the demo and have since put 15 hours into it. Game is preloaded and I am calling Multiplayer GOTY, so yes I bought it.
Bought the first day it was available on steam, preloaded and ready to go.
37 Hours into the demo.

... The movement speeds are mean to be fast - not slow like UT2004's Killing Floor. If it were that slow no one would play it; partly because Valve's main playerbase is used to TF2 and CS runspeeds, and partly because a fast pace action game is Valve's gamestamp...1nverted

You just were expecting a different game. Never at any point during this game's production were the zombies slow. And if they were slow, then it would be an entirely different game. It really would'nt appeal to me, since I don't see how slow zombies would pose any threat, especially if you got teammates.Â
Â
I'm buying... Putting GTA4 on the backburner for now.
I've played the demo about a dozen times. It was fun each and every single time.
It's even more fun with friends!
Bought the first day it was available on steam, preloaded and ready to go.
37 Hours into the demo.

Slow zombies are more of a phycological threat (I.E. a creepy zombie slowly walking towards you that came out of no where), and I would of liked at least one zombie like that. I am saddened that this game isn't scary despite having zombies, sure theres some "HOLY @#%#$%" moments but that's just usually due to those insane bosses that take a billion shots to the face (Im looking at you tank). I have to admit this was a really fun shooter and I was hooked, but I would of liked them to focus more on the scary aspect of the game rather than just crazy zombie waves. Whether or not I'll be purchasing the game is already decided. CoD4 Zombie mods are good enough for me.
I pre-ordered it when it was first available. I played and enjoyed the demo and am looking forward to the 18th. Not only because the next three days are going to be hell (I've got two papers to start and finish) but Left 4 Dead comes out. The problem is, I've found a new addiction: Mirror's Edge and probably won't spend as much time as I had originally planned playing Left 4 Dead. Mirror's Edge is pretty much the best speed running game I've played in my life. It was designed for it. Not many games are designed around speed running.foxhound_fox
Â
There are other games designed around speed running?Â

Hell yea, waiting for the 21st so I can get it on disc though, rather that than wait an age for it to download like the demo.jmnderson69
Buy it off Steam and you can preload it right now. Â Â That would give you 3 days to download it and have it ready on the 18th...Unless your on dialup it shouldn't take that long. Â Â Â Wait...OMFG Only 3 more days@! WOOOO
