Vista is the same and in one article where they had 4870x2s in Crossfire it was actually faster than XP. I wouldn't expect Win 7 to be slower.

i have 32 bit vista home premium and i'm happy with it. i think i'm gonna stick with it until i wanna go 64 bit and have more than 3 gigs of ram. although i'd probably upgrade to the 32 bit version of win7 if msft gave it to me for free, but i doubt that will happen.

Hi CheeseEater, Windows 7 scored well on some gaming benchmarks as of late, so I think the questions about gameplay have been answered, for now at least: http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/25/windows-7-edges-out-vista-for-gaming-in-thorough-benchmark-tests/ I think we'll start seeing more benchmarkings as the Beta moves down the road to RC and further. Only thing that will make me upgrade to windows 7 is if Directx11 only come to it and not vista or xp

M$ already confirmed dx11 is coming to vista.

source:http://www.techpowerup.com/index.php?76902

Microsoft's Ben Basaric, productmarketing managerfor Windows products, confirmed to PC Games Hardware that the next major update to the DirectX API, DirectX 11 would accompany Windows 7, the next major consumer operating system software byMicrosoft. This, overwriting his own statement given to the website earlier that he wasn't sure if DirectX 11 would be ready to ship with the OS upon its launch. Furthermore, he also indicated that Windows Vista will have access to the updated API.

so basically us vista user will just need to download dx11, or it may come with vista sp2 :)

I'm pre-ordering it and getting Windows 7 Home Premium Full Edition! E for 49.99

see here:

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=118636

I've pre-ordered with anvika.

also purchasing between the release and december it should only be 79 without preorder.

quote

From the 15 July to the 9 August, for instance, UK retailers such as Micro Anvika are running the introductory offer on pre-orders of Windows 7. PC users can buy a Windows 7 Home Premium licence for 49 - a saving of 100. Alternatively Windows 7 Pro will retail for just 99 : 120 less than Microsoft's suggested retail price.

After December prices go up to

Windows 7 Home Premium Edition will cost 149, while the Professional version will be 219 and the Ultimate Edition 229.

end quote

All in pounds sterling this, and I think its same or similar for EU.

These are the E versions.

I'm using the beta now, which is fantastic. I don't see myself going back to vista. Ever.

Yup. Heard nothing but good things about it. I keep hearing that it's what Vista should have been.

I'm buying a new PC anyways, and I don't feel like buying XP 64 bit with W7 so close to launch.

I think that 7 is going to do what Vista was unable to. That is, force people to upgrade.

I just got a new computer and I have Windows 7 ultimate preordered. Figure I will stick with Vista 64 for a while then install 7 when I get some feedback from people.

Why people say that Vista is so bad??

I have it on my machine and i LOVE it! Its fast , looks great and does everything i need.

So unless Windows 7 turns out to be out of this world OS i MAY think about it .But dont think so. I just love Vista

Yes, vistas nice but this is better. I had vista on my machine, but I just love the new taskbar interface. Stuff seems to launch quicker, and well, why not have it?

I'll be getting it for the improvements Microsoft made for SSD's. Hopefully I can run a proper RAID 0 with my SSD's and get a nice performance boost over Vista.

Ordered 5 copies of 7 Ultimate.

As I said in an earlier post I've preordered the full HP edition "E" for 49 quid, but will wait until my RC on my other partition expires and even then I may wait a while just to see how everything pans out after the first few months, upto now the RC is great, but the need to upgrade will be slightly different because of its similarities to my current OS (vista), time will tell but least this way I have a full copy on the cheap :P

Kinda same here, Windows 7 does really blow Vista completely out of the water when it comes to using SSD's.
