[QUOTE="Prexxus"][QUOTE="AiurProtoss"]Arena Twitch shooters needa resurgence, but the problem is that too many mainstream gamers are too hooked on super slow games like Halo, they couln't handle the speed of quake, and people tend to not like getting killed over and over. appealing to the casual market is what has really hurt gaming this gen.AiurProtoss
Halo is casual? Halo pro players make hundreds of thousands in tournaments. I don't see much Quake players and I don't think the reason is because they can't handle it. It's just plain boring. No they don't ive been following mlg since 2006 and the most they make is 100,000 for first place at Halo nationals, and 20,000 for 1st place at any normal event, and that is a team total prize money, so 100,000 minus tax of course, then they each get their share of the cash. And only the top 3 teams really get worthwhile money to sit a and practice for 8 hours a day. Halo is not nearly as skill oriented as counterstrike or Quake jsut because someone can "master" the game in a a years time and get into the pro cicuit. You dont see many quake players eh?? ok completely ignore quakecon, and completely ignore that there are other countries other than the USA that have esports. Quake is still really big in Europe, Dreamhack in sweden is a 10,000 player lan for counterstrike and quake and other games. none of them are Halo. While Halo is good competetive game(im not bashing on it I play Halo and Follow MLG, its jsut the truth), it lacks the speed, the amount of skill, accuracy, timing, map agility, when compared to shooters like quake. A quake duel is like a chess match at 200 mph. QUake has no regen health, its all individual skill in a duel. TO say quake or twitch shooters are boring is shooting yourself in the foot.
Yup quake is boring compared to halo alright *sarcasm*
