They had the deal posted for OA on the homepage, but if you want the original Arma 2 campaign also, it's only a few bucks more.

I got that, torchlight and dawn of war 2 gold edition today. Already owned dawn of war 2 (not chaos rising), gifted the extra copy to my buddy lol.

This is where I'm confused.. Arma II and Operation Arrowhead are pretty much too separate games. Any point in having the original Arma II installed then? Do most people play that multiplayer?

If I ever play this game multiplayer it'll be either via LAN or private server (if it's offered). First, I have to get all my relatives on board which will be hard because this game is probably beyond them (except for a few).

But, one thing I like is no matter which map you use in the editor, all the units from both ARMA 2 and Arrowhead are available to use. You can even play as a goat or rabbit if you want.

Why does it have a 73/100 metascore? I tired the demo a few months ago and thought it was good.

At release Arma 2 did suffer from a few serious issues and its a very niche genre to begin with. There's the case of critics who like the genre but couldn't get past the bugs or critics who experienced few issues but aren't a fan of the gameplay. It's not a popular game but its fanbase is strong.

As I understand it, thought I'm not an expert, Operation Arrowhead includes everything in Arma II except for the scenarios and campaign. If you want those, that's what the extra 2.50 would be buying.

Also, there's this deal on www.gogamer.com for a dvd copy of Arma II: OA for $14.90. I wish I'd seen this before I got it from Steam because they have a few other really good games for cheap.

same. Arma was one of those games that I've always been interested in.

almost bought Blur today too, but that deal really wasn't as good as getting two Arma games for $22.

now I'm just hoping Crysis/UnrealTourny3 go on sale, then I can access A LOT of mods. :P

I've had an eye on this for a while, and the sale finally pushed me to buy it.

Just finished installing and started running through the bootcamp. The interface is taking a bit to get used to, and the sheer amount of stuff it seems I'll have to memorize is pretty intimidating, but that's not unexpected. It's the glitches that have me worried. I played only a very small section and hit two (3 maybe) major glitches. An infinite loop at the firing range, frozen animation at the med station, and a weapon that wouldn't show up (I'll admit this last one might just be my bad).

Is the game typically this glitchy, or was it just bad luck?

never trust metascore, MW2 has a metascore of 86.

If you really want to judge by reviews look at the individual ones, because some of them are really stupid.

So far, I jumped on Alpha Protocol, Kane & Lynch 2, and no regrets. Good games for prices that would be branded as "highway robbery."

I haven't seen any glitches on mine except for some poor clipping. Some of the dead fall on the ground with their head in the sidewalk or inside a wall. Others stop falling halfway down. Hopefully there's a mod or patch to fix it. Most of the poor performance I grumbled about in the demo seem to have been addressed.

I haven't seen any problem with Training in my install. I might've seen something similar in the demo.

I also applied a couple of patches. Maybe that helped.

I wouldnt bother too much with the boot camp as it put me off. Its best to just dive into the campaign by the third level you pretty much start to get the hang of it.

Actually Arrowhead has about as much content as Arma 2. To break down what you get...

Arma 2
Factions: USMC, Russian Army, CDF (fictional indigenous army), NAPA (fictional indigenous guerrila fighters), and CHDKZ (fictional indigenous insurgents)
Maps: Chernarus 226 sq km based on the area of the Czech Republic where BI is based, larger than Takistan with dense foliage, and Utes a small island that the USMC has their aircraft carrier parked off of that has an airfield and a few small villages
Weapons and vehicles: Everything the factions above use
One campaign: Harvest Red, you play as a marine force recon squad that moves behind enemy lines and interacts with the local population
Several single missions
and of course the awesome Mission Editor

Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead
Factions: US Army, Takistan Republic Army (fictional), Takistani Insurgents, Takistani Militia, UN Forces (from Chernarus)
Maps: Takistan, based on Afghanistan's terrain, Desert an open map of sound and rolling hills to create missions in, and Zargabad a large city for urban fighting
Weapons and vehicles: Everything the factions above use, some weapons and vehicles of the US Army and USMC overlap but they are still very distinct from one another
One campaign: Operation Arrowhead, less story but more variety this time with players assuming roles from a Delta force team leader, to apache pilot, to tank commander.
Several single missions
and of course the awesome Mission Editor

Arma 2: BAF DLC
Factions: British Armed Forces (comes in both desert and woodland camo for use in Chernarus and Takistan)
Maps: Shapur, a small map with an airfield and several oil facilities to fight in
Weapons and vehicles: Not quite as much as the other factions but several new weapons unique to the BAF and new tanks, light vehicles, and helicopters, all of high quality
One campaign: Operation Red Lance I think its called or something like that, takes you through the new features and content of the new DLC, I haven't finished it yet
Several single missions

Get all three. It's a huge amount of content for 28 bucks.

Steam should be automatically patching it, shouldn't it? Well, If I keep getting issues I'll look into patches & mods. I take it this stuff is uncommon though so it was probably just some bad luck, thanks :)

Hey, if I can skip to the action then sweet. If I get stuck on anything I can always just go back and train on that in the boot camp anyway.
