Alright i've been hearing alot about DayZ and I want to get in on some of this action. But just wondering if its worth $15 or if I should just wait for the standalone. How much will the standalone cost if anything? Also looking to pickup torchlight 2, hope it goes down to 50% off.

I'm wondering the samething would anyone be kind enough shed some light on this subject. I am also under the impression that Day - Z won't be stand alone game but will be included in follow up of Arma 3? correct me if I'm wrong.

Day Z will be standalone and if that is the only thing you want and you're only expecting to maybe get something worth your time out of ARMA 2, then you should definitely forget about it, it's a flawed game on and at everything. About the price, this is all I can give you (expect a low price for getting it early): The game will be released in an Alpha build for a low price point. DayZ will be available on Steam. Rocket is project lead for DayZ at Bohemia Interactive. DayZ is set to follow the Minecraft pricing and development model. There will be continued support for DayZMOD alongside DayZ game. Running on "Arma 2.5" engine. Will include an updated Chernarus map, and new weather system.

DayZ is a fantastic game that is plagued with its engine and hackers. You might want to wait for standalone at this point.

Alright thanks for the help guys, since the only reason I would get Arma II is for DayZ and it seems to be filled with hackers, i'll pass until the alpha gets released on steam.

Thanks!

Well, there was just a patch with additional anti-cheat features implemented so it may be playable again. :P

What everyone fails to mention is that if you get the mod you can install a program called DayZ Commander which automates the install and you can also download and play on extra maps (about 6 at the moment)the standalone will have only 1 map, plus the mod will still be worked on and it's where they can try stuff before they put it in the standalone.

I would get both basically.

People blow it way out of proportion, almost to a ridiculous level. Hackers aren't that common. The game is easily worth $15 if you are willing to invest some time into an incredibly deep military shooter. There are many things you'd have to learn just to attempt to play Dayz. I think it was well worth the effort, personally. There is still NO game out there that compares to this mod when it comes to tension, I still say Dayz does a better job at creating it than any other game in recent memory.

I use the PlaywithSix launcher, it has been simplified and works very well for a lot of different mods right out of the box. Very simple yet still pretty powerful.

Really depends when it comes to the hackers. Every time BattlEye gets updated or there's a new patch that adds anti-cheat features, the game seems to be relatively clean of hackers for weeks. But then new hacks get released and then it seems I can't go a day without getting teleported and blown up by a hacker. At the moment, I haven't seen any hackers today.

I've not been killed or warped in literally months. I'm not sure how your luck is so bad when it comes to this game. I've been playing on and off private hives and the worst I've seen in a long while were some obviously moved cars and a few bandits that were a bit too skilled to be believable but I had no proof they were in fact hacking to win.

My brother plays DayZ in the same household and he would come across it all the time (daily) too. We like to frequent populated servers, and mostly played on private hives. We also often run into hacker boxes, filled with every item in the game. Perhaps you don't play as much as we do? :P I play at least 3+ hours a day.
