I'm giving my old ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 mobo to a friend along with my old X800Pro. All of which is lightyears beyond what his pc is. The thing is, he doesn't have an LGA 775 CPU that he can use. Looking on Newegg, I saw this Celeron E1400.

My question is: will that Celeron work on the 4CoreDual board? The specs for the board says it supports Celeron procs, but I'm not sure if this E1400 is considered a regular 775 Celeron or is some kind of special Celeron-DC type. Newegg lists the E1400 along with their regular Celerons, so I would think that it would work, but I'm not sure. I don't want to recommend a CPU that won't work, and he can't really spare the extra $$$ to spring for a full-on C2D right now. He doesn't really want to buy a used chip either. (for obvious warranty reasons)

Thanks for any help and advice.

Watch out with that board when it comes to graphics cards too. I bought one as a stop gap a year or so back, then discovered it had no native support for the 8800GT. Check your other components' compatibility first, because the boards' architecture is a bit of a jumble.
