Hi, I've been looking for a CPU to purchase around November (or sooner if it goes on a good sale) to go with my eventual gtx 460 purchase.

I play at 1440x900 on my 19'' and have no plans of upgrading my monitor anytime soon.

I'm wanting opinions on the best CPU to get the most out of a gtx460 with the specifications of playing the Stalker and Crysis series maxed (except for AA which I won't go over 2xAA) on my mentioned monitor's resolution.

I've had a few recommendations of the Athlon II X3 440 Rana saying that it will be the best bang for my buck for a gtx460 at my resolution. Its price is very affordable to me, being on a budget, but I could also afford a little more for a faster CPU if 440 wouldn't serve a gtx460 at 1440x900 well enough.

What do you think? I'm open to AMD or Intel suggestions. Please make suggestions that would serve a gtx460 at 1440x900 best, suggestions of more future proof CPUs will not help me.

Thanks.

Yes it should be enough. It's a tri-core at 3GHz after all.

ya, but the phenom 2 quads would do better right now in the long term. Although I got an athlon ii 620 last year, its holding up in all games still clocked at 3.1 ghz.
