The Audigy is £20 cheaper and in stock where as the Xtreme gamer is currently out of stock at where I want to buy it, I'm running XP so driver issues don't bother me.

I've been running my DS3L onboard atm, so I've never used EAX and I've always been fine without out so I'm not sure if that would make such an epic difference to me. My speakers are these so I don't exactly have high tech speakers and need insane audio quality.

I'm mainly getting a sound card to get rid of buzzing in my speakers which my onboard is picking up, and I just want to avoid getting a worse one. I'd prefer some extra quality in music and gaming but I'm not particualy up for spending an extra £20 for a tiny bit of extra sound.

Should I just settle with the Audigy? Or will I regret it later on?

TC you feel like getting better sound then GET BETTER SPEAKERS.

Something like the logitech Z-2300 will be a nice upgrade over what you have.

I'm not into getting alot better sound but ATM my onboard is picking up static at lower volumes + random radio stations. Therefore I need to get a sound card either way. Should I just get the Audigy because my speakers are average?

Improve any link on the way will improve the end result. You will be able to get a lot better sound with a better soundcard even if your speakers suck. X-fi cards still got a lot of stuff there improves 2.1 or 2.0 sound. You dont need top of the line speakers/headphones to get a noticable improvement.

Do you have anything else you can plug the speakers up to. It would suck to buy a new sound card and find out the problem is in the speakers not the onboard audio.

Yeah I've attached them to my MP3, headphones ect and they work fine. I've also moved the speakers to a diff location to check it wasn't power messing with the cables because it's just a mass of cables.

They also make no sound when powered on but the compy is off so I know its definatly something inside my computer.

But actualy, when I run sound through my computer into my headphones via the speakers (comp > speakers > speakers headset jack) theres no static, theres also no static when I used my old crappy £5 speakers. But when I plug my MP3 into the mic jack on the speakers they work flawlessly with no static.

I get static when they are plugged into my PC, the PC is on and they create static with or without music playing. Really loud when the sound is low and loudish when it's really high.

Ordered the X-fi xtreme gamer. I'm going to order some new speakers next month or buy some in America since they're cheaper :).

Hopefully, you don't get slammed with any driver issues or anything with your new card. (Creative is infamous for bad drivers...good thing my Prelude isn't acting up with the current drivers.) It should still improve the sound quality nicely over an integrated codec, particularly when you're doing something as simple as moving the mouse around (which results in some noticeable noise though my system's Realtek ALC889A, but is nonexistent when using my Auzentech X-Fi Prelude). Also, now that you have a nice sound card, it'll allow your PC to make the most out of a superior set of speakers should you decide to acquire some.
