Hi guys,

My headphones broke recently, and I have been shopping around for a new one. I know a lot of people on this forum recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50, but it is currently too expensive for me at $131 (via amazon). Would the ATH-M40FS be a good alternative within my budget of $50-70?

I am not an audiophile by any means, and would just like a good headphone for gaming/music. Any help is appreciated!

I've used both, and found the sound of the M40 to be good, but it's nothing like the ATH-M50, which is easily as good as headphones in the $200-up category. If you're looking for a less-expensive Audio Technica ATH-M50, consider instead either the Creative Auvana Live!, or Sony MDR-V6. Both are excellent headphones that perform above their price-point, and if you look around you should be able to get one or the other in your price range. Good luck, Boz

It is a great pair of headphones for its price. Not as good value as the M50, but if you don't have the money to spend you'll be very happy with this too :)
