Should i go ahead and pay for McAfee/Panda/Kaspersky or just get AVG free version? Is it good at detecting viruses? Reviews on the internet show this is a very mediocre software

I am a fairly recent fan of Kaspersky. I seems so simple and so good. (updated allot!) I got it bundled with System Mechanic Pro and it was well worth the 39 bucks. (SM7, firewall and Kapersky) Its cheaper at Best Buy/Walmart than it is online at iolo.

I use AVG on my machine and Avast on my wife's machine and both of them are free and seem to work fine. At least, we haven't discovered any virus on our machines, so if you're really against paying for Norton/McAfee or any other, then you should be OK with these..

AVG is very good and it doesent take up much system resources! But i recommend Kaspersky, although its £15 on ebay (£50 RRP) its updated hourly, and its super low system usage,,, but most importantly its very good at stopping viruses and hackers!!!
