I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a backlit gaming keyboard as well a gaming-oriented mouse. Thanks in advance!

You have a fair few choices open to you, I am currently using the Saitek Eclipse 3 which isn't a bad gaming keyboard and has 5 different coloured backlights. I have a Logitech G15 on my other PC which I really like only the lettering on the keys tends to get scratched off very easily (a fault with nearly all logitech keyboards I find).

If I could justify the cost I would leap at the G19 ;) I mean a full colour screen what's not to love about that except the damn price which is over £100.

As for mice I am using a Logitech Lazer G7 which they don't make anymore I believe. However you could look at the Logitech G9 :-

However don't expect any of these mice to be cheap, but with a little luck they will last you years.

Why do people buy backlit keyboards? Is there some advantage? I've been using my ZBoard for about 4 years now and think it's great, especially for gaming (It's what it's made for).

If you're willing to shell out 100+ I highly recommend the Logitech G15 keyboard, I've been using it for a few months and it's the best I've ever used. Also backlit is great for low light conditions when you want to see the keys.

+1

I have the G5 and it's the best mouse I've ever owned, by far. From everything I've heard the G500 is even better.

I've been using a Merc Stealth, and I really like it. I think I got it for around $80 - $100.

Over the years I have had a Tarantula, Copperhead, and Deathadder from Razer. From Logitech a G15, an MX518, and a G5. Despire the quality of Razer products I ALWAYS gravitate back to Logitech (I had the G5 first, bought the Deathadder, and after a month or so went back to the G5). Their designs, build quality, and software are all just so much better than Razer. Soooo I would go with the G15 (or G19 if you can afford it!) for the keyboard and the newer G500 (upgrade of the G5) or the G9 depending on your preference.
